  • Dune book series order?

Trying to figure out the correct order of the entire dune series, including both Frank and Brian Herbert books.

I know it starts with Brian s bulterian jihad books, goes to Frank s original series and ends with more of Brian s books. I just don t know the specific chronological order of the events covered in the books.

Date written is not what I m interested in.

  • Winchester 1200 12ga choke questions?

Just got my 1st 12 guages. I ve fired shotguns before, but am totally new to chokes.

It came with a full choke. What can be fired through that?

I d like to have everything needed for a variety of hunting and/or shell types.

Ic choke is short range, full is long. I get that much.

But buckshot or slugs, can they pass through a full choke, or do I need the ic or m chokes?

  • 454 w/ bent pushrods?

I'm a certified marine tech. Today I removed the intake manifolds from 2 454s. Cracked block for one, obvious junk.

The other was a different story. Both pushrods for #5 totally bent and destroyed. Obviously new gaskets between heads and intake....

WRONG gaskets. Motor is gen 4, maybe 3. Big rectangle intake ports, square ports for gasket, gasket does not cover port.

    Aren't square ports gen 5?

And gen 5 rocker arms get torqued, 40 ft lbs if I remember correctly. Not the usual remove slack, turn motor over, remove slack, adjust while running.

If somebody followed gen 5 procedures on an older motor, wouldn't that result with busted push rods?

  • Everybody has a twin?

They everybody has a twin somewhere. I've met a neighbor's unrelated twin before, so I know there is some truth to this.

So, the question is, do identical twins also have a twin somewhere?

And are they a "triplets", or another set of twins?

  • Cello question?

Cellos have always seemed like oversized guitars to me, and I've heard some played that definitely had that deeper strum found in bass guitars.

Do cellos come in normal and bass versions?

Or does a cello just sound more like a bass guitar due to its size and design?

For just strumming a few chords on a lone guitar, I've always preferred a bass. And I've wanted to get an instrument to play, I've been deprived lately, and I'm eccentric enough to not want a "normal instrument".

General info on cello types appreciated.

Also would like to know something about where to get a decent quality but cheap cello. Beginner appropriate, nothing concert quality. Durable over fancy, but clean sound 1st.

I've seen prices from about $300-$2,000. Can't afford to spend 2k.

  • Commercial flight route?

A plane leaving Miami FL traveling to Reno NV, would it be traveling north as it heads for landing?

It would be the logical choice. But actual flight plans tend to follow other logic, like not crashing into another plane.

I ask because I live near the Reno airport and can see planes once they get 50' up from my yard. I'm expecting a visitor flying in, and if they come in from the south, I'd like to tell them to request a window seat on left side.

  • 2000 Silverado, starts, doesn't run.?

My 2000 Chevy Silverado 1500 w/ 5.3 was stolen with major damage to collum.

Just finished rebuilding the collum with new parts.

It starts right up but immediately dies.

Pushing gas deosnt seem to have any effect.

Beyond the battery, I haven't seen anything under the hood that was messed with.

Everything is plugged in at the dash. Everything looks right, but it dies right after starting.

    Any suggestions welcomed.

  • Electrical box contents 2000 Silverado 1500?

My 2000 Chevy Silverado 1500 2wd was stolen about 3 months ago. I got it back today and have begun to figure needed repairs.

What has me stumped at this moment is the electrical box under the dash behind the parking brake is stripped of fuses, breakers and relays.

I need a pic of an intact and fully loaded electrical box from a 2000 Silverado 1500. Thanks.

Again, this the box under the dash, behind parking brake. It s the box that an electric trailer brake controller plugs into.

Also, I am a certified technician. My manual was among the stolen items, and a pic would be helpful even with a manual.

Btw, the cops found it way back in June, they just never bothered to notify me. Tow yard notified me intent to auction it if I didn t pay kbb sized bill.

    I will be using.

    NEVER trust a cop.

  • is this criminal?

1st off, I live in lassen county, California. my questions regard laws in California. our local law enforcement is done by the lassen county sheriff's department, witnessing a dozen illegal acts in a day in town of 2,000 people is very easily done.

I want to take advantage of that and have some fun while i'm doing it.....

if a 25 mph speed limit sign says "school", it is only valid during certain hours on certain days, correct?

in the other hours and where not posted at all, in somewhat suburban area, is it a 35 or a 55 zone?

stop signs, if there isn't a line on the road, possibly with the word "stop" painted by it, is it a legal requirement to stop there?

child endangerment, and/or neglect, if a law enforcement is just watching a bunch of minor children who are committing crimes with potentially lethal consequences, is that child endangerment and/or neglect?

and do either or both of these crimes become felonies after a certain number of them?

a felony charge on a corrupt/grossly incompetent cop would be so very sweet.

citizen's arrest, I know that a cop must be called in to judge the situation, but beyond that I am clueless. can a on duty cop be placed under citizen's arrest?

and if so, is best to ask for a different department to come judge the situation, or that "law enforcement" officer's superior?

discrimination, its not just race, age or wealth can be discriminated against also?

  • Ca registration, commercial vs private use?

i just got my new 2012 cali tags, and i noticed my registration says commercial use instead of private use (or whatever its called).

i bought this vehicle used, and it was originally owned by a plumbing or electrical company, and used for the business commercially.

my question is, am i paying more for commercial use when i shouldnt be, or would private use end up costing more then i am currently paying?

  • shorted on my paycheck, who do i talk to?

on tuesday the 3rd of may i was scheduled a full 8 hour shift.

as part of my job requirements, i cant leave until my replacement shows up.

my replacement was a full half hour late, so i should of had some OT pay listed on the stub for that period, i dont.

i'm fairly certain i also got shorted a half hour the next day, at just regular rate. and i've probably been shorted numerous other times when my replacement was late and i was here longer then scheduled.

i KNOW i got wrongfully shorted this time. i KNOW the GM makes a habit of adjusting clocked in times to match the written schedule (and the clocked in time is wrong, he cant be bothered to adjust that clock properly for some reason).

so the question is, who do i talk to about this, who is the proper authority i need to get involved?

EDD, the employment services place you go t for unemployment and job hunting assistance would be my guess. and they have an office only about 15 minutes away, and i do have weekday afternoons i can use to go see them.

am i correct in thinking EDD is the place to start?

BTW, this is in california, santa clara county.

  • zombie movie title and year of release?

i'm looking for an older zombie movie, it was the color remake of an even older b&w version.

begins in the graveyard with a young brown haired woman and a guy who i believe was her brother.

the lady makes it away and into a house with several other survivors. there is a bitten young girl who ends up in the basement with her parents until she changes and makes trouble for everyone.

a black guy holes up in the attic near the end without letting the lead female actor in with him.

lead female is forced to flee on foot with a rifle. ends up finding other survivors and going back to the house, where she shoots the black guy and says he was infected even though he wasnt because he deserved shot.

i need to know the specific title, i think its "night of the living dead", but i cant find a description of movies with that title on amazon to match.

and i know it wasnt made in 20XX something like all those movies were that i did find, so i think having the year would help to get the right one.

  • just bought my ca fishing license, and things have changed....?

so i went to buy my fishing license today (1st day off of the year coming up, and it looks to be clear and sunny). instead of getting a little piece of paper with carbon copys behind it, they took my drivers license and slid it through a machine which then printed out a plasticy paper reciept that is the new 2011 license.

for the consumer, is there any real benefit to this new system besides easy replacement if lost even if record copy is lost too (that is how the old ones were in cali, you had a reciept copy that wasnt a valid license but oculd be used to get a free replacement)?

is cali the 1st state to use this system?

    the only state so far?

when i go for my second rod sticker (used to be a sticker anyways), will they print me out a new license with the 2nd rod on it too, or will i get a seperate receipt thingie i will have to keep on me too?

will i need to turn in my old license if they replace it?

i'd like to keep it just so i could leave it in the truck and always have it on me where ever i am sicne i normally keep my license in the boat. i know i wouldnt be able to double pole without the proper license on me though......

and out of idle curiosity, what data tracking benefits does this system have for fish and game agencies?

  • CA fishing regs, trout in livewell?

i was talking trout fishing, and fishing in general with a friend of mine, told him i like to get my fish home still alive so they get on the grill within 30 minutes of their last breath.

    he shared this with me:

    4.00. Bait-General

    E. No trout may be maintained or possessed in a live condition in any container on or attached to any boat;

    http://www.dfg.ca.gov/regulations/FreshFish/ccr-t1...

does this also imply to trout not intended for use as bait?

on waters where no fish preys on trout?

IMO trout is the best tasting fish there is. i dont want to trade a trout for a striper. and if i'm keeping a trout, its probably 2 or more pounds, i'd never use something so large, caught plenty of big bass of many different species on much, much smaller tackle/bait.

some of my biggest fish have been on some of the smallest tackle.....

BTW, i do fish at del valle in livermore sometimes, where they have trout, striper, smallmouth and black bass. would that be one place i should really not keep them alive?

i see poeple with stringers full of still flopping trout there everytime....

  • prop selection help.......?

does anybody know of a prop selector tool, such as mercurymarine.com's, that covers 2011 mercury outboards (60hp 4 stroke, not big foot, 60elpt-efi)?

16' alum hull, i had a brand new 11" pitch black max laying around that is on it now, redlining before throttle is full. i'm thinking i need to drop the rpms at least 1,000, so at WOT i'm running low 5's before trimming.

i'm thinking a 15" pitch minimum, but i would really like to be able to use a prop selector tool before spending the money and finding out i should of gone with a 16 or 17 pitch.

BTW, i am aware of the performance benefits a stainless would give me, for the price i'd rather have a high pitched black max.
