Pottery: Nature Impressions on sign?

I'm making a sign for my pottery class ... it has to incorporate textures from nature into it.

I'm having trouble thinking of some good textures to use ... I got leaves, small rocks, and I was thinking about tree bark but I think that'd be hard to imprint into clay.

Any ideas for what else I could use from nature to press into clay? Thoughts appreciated, thanks!

You say you are using leaves - which ones? I've had good success with big cabbage leaves. The thick parts can look quite architectural. Tree bark wouldn't be a problem if you could roll out a sheet of clay and keep it damp between layers of plastic, and then take it out to a park. From nature could also include foot and hands prints, and paw prints.
