If I don't want to go shopping in the major designer stores on Via Tornabuoni and such, where can I go shopping for something a little less pricey?

Be sure you take a phrase book and map.
Very easy to get turned around in and not everyone speaks English.
Lots of stores and everyone wanted to haggle, so do not pay the sticker price!
Beautiful city and hope to return someday.

There're a TON of stores in Florence, trust me, you're going to be able to find everything you could ever want when you go there. I would just walk through Florence and go into any store that pleases me.
