Why does human chromosome #2 have telomeres in its centre? Why is it a fusion of two chimp chromosomes?
Surely god doesn't accidentally place telomeres in the centre of a chromosome, just to deceive us.
And I'm in Australia...lol
HA. Telomeres don't have a purpose in the middle of a chromosome, hence why #2 is a fusion of two chromosomes. nice try.

God had very little to do with it.
As you probably know,
Interstitial Telomeric Sequences (ITSs) are not unique to chromosome
#2. People who study these ITSs, comparing those found in human
genes to their homologs in chimps, have determined that they do not
derive from expansion of pre-existing TTAAGG units, but instead appeared suddenly during chimp evolution. Sequence comparisons indicate
that this circumstance (wherein a telomere ends up at a location other
than the end of the strand) results from double-strand break repair in
ancestral DNA, in which a break is repaired by insertion of a telomere DNA fragment. The repair is then passed down to subsequent generations. In-depth comparison of chimp and human ITS fragments
has shown that all of these are relics of ancient breakage; events which happened before true humans evolved, somewhere between 40
and 6 million years ago. The humans just inherited the interstitial telomere as a pre-existing condition. Something that an insurance provider somewhere would probably be happy to use as a reason to
deny someone insurance coverage.

It's either:
a) Satan putting it there to deliberately deceive us, showing what a dishonest and hateful character he is, with clearly malevolent intent.
b) God putting it there to deliberately test us, showing what an honest and loving character he is, with clearly benevolent intent.
Or then again, maybe it's just natural process...

Apparently, your high-brow science has eluded those who have answered so far.
The truth is, we probably don't know the function of why God placed telomeres in its center. (spelling corrected - this is Yahoo Answers America)
edit: you assume to know the mind of God. That can't be done. (and I was joking about the spelling - but why do you people insist on all those useless "u"s in words that don't require them)
