It is kind of two separate subjects you are referring to, but I will see if this answers your question.

Socialism is a type of government (which is another form of communism) which the people are equal and everything belongs to the people, regardless if you worked hard for it, the person that does not work at all gets a piece of it.

I believe you are referring to capitalism, which is what our government is based on. This type of government allows you to be in a free market and allows you to work hard and reap the profit from your hard work. Such as you make a product that people like and you then become wealthy. If you work hard you will deserve any benefit that is given to you.

Socialism is when government is god. No private enterprise, no private property, no free markets, a misery shared by all. Justice is you get what you deserve, you don't get what someone else deserves and he doesn't get what you deserve.

Justice is about getting what you deserve. Socialism is about getting what you want and making someone else pay for it.
