Check out acidbath, they aren't the most obscure band. The bass parts a pretty cool.

Bq: I like to run a guitar through a bass cab. If you Stack reverb on that and it sounds like it's underwater.

I'm not an expert on bass by any stretch of the imagination, but the bass in The Devil Wears Prada is great.

RAtM has some solid bass. I'm sure you've listened to them plenty, but I find people tend to not realize how good the bass actually is because they're too busy drooling over Tom Morello on guitar.

Blink-182- The intro to Man Overboard is an awesome bass solo.
