Stay with old PS3 or buy New PS3 Slim?

Hey guys, i really need your opinion on this one!

As we all know PS3 Slim has now been out for quite some time, asnd has attracted many people into getiing one.

I currently have the old PS3 40GB, there is nothing wrong the console, however i do have some issues with it, such as;, when i am on the web browser, it will jsut freeze and wont do anything for quite some time, which means i have manually tyurn it off from the back and re-turn it on, also it is very very loud, and i always get the feeling that someday it will explode, currently i do not have warranty, and i got into contact with Sony just to find out how much i would have to pay if my console was to break, they replied with i would have to buy a 40GB or 80Gb for £120

Now, i was thinking about this offer, link provided below

http://www.game.co.uk/lowdown.aspx?lid=12004&cm_sp...

With this offer i was thinking about paying £139.99 and my 40GB PS3 which means GAME would be buying my PS3 for £110..

PLEASE PLEASE tell me what i should do!

Regards!

No way man, keep your old PS3. If it still works then theres no need to replace it.

The problem with the browser exists on the PS3 Slim too. The browser is generally quite bad and not very well made so instability still exists on all the PS3 systems, the hardware is more or less the same on the PS3 Slim apart from the 45nm processor but the hardware in the PS3 Slim is not more powerful than in the old PS3.

As for the noise, well noise can be a problem but if your PS3 is old it may be quite dusty inside, you could try take apart your system and clean it yourself like I do regularly or take it to someone who knows what they're doing and let them 'refurbish' it.

If it's out of warranty, you may as well just use it til it breaks then get a PS3 Slim, by which time the price will be lower.

Spend your money on some games instead!

No you should keep it, if it still works then there is no point in replacing it, if and when it does die off then get a slim PS3,

i also have a 40GB model its a little over 3 years old and its still as fresh as it was when i got it its had a newer 320GB hard drive installed too but i'm keeping it until it either yellow lights me or just wears out. However i have not had any of your issues (or any issues at all to that matter), but they all probably link to dust, the fan is probably clogged and its causing it to run hotter and the fan to run faster (it also might be the reason for it being slow)

so clean it out and see if that does anything you must have at least 2 years worth of dust collecting in the poor thing

I would keep it, if you have the money to spend on a new slim go for it and use your 40gb on your living/family room or give it to your brother/sister. But the new slim is just quiter, and cuts down a bit on energy usage its much slimer but you probaly have it hiding in a shelf with other electronics. So unless your 40gb its really dying or you feel its dying get it other than that save your money and get some lunch or some nice shoes/clothes.
