Why do my mice keep sneezing?

I recently got 2 mice and they both sneeze all the time. Originally I had them on pine bedding but then they started sneezing all the time and read that it can cause respiratory problems so I switched them to aspen bedding. They still sneeze very often, do you think that their sneezing could be from being on pine? Has anyone else had this problem before, and if so, how long did it last for?

Thanks!

I would recommend using paper bedding for mice as it is hypoallergenic. Other types of bedding can often be very dusty, which could be causing your mice to be this sneezy.

However your mice may have a respiratory infection. If this is the case, you can get antibiotics for your mice to help clear up the infection. To help give them the best chance of recovery I would suggest that you keep them somewhere nice and warm and free from drafts, making sure that your furry friends have lots of fresh water, food and dry bedding so that they are as comfortable as possible.

Good luck, and I hope your mice get well soon :)

I would keep switching from different bedding, see if it helps. And yes it can be respiratory problems. In that case they could have a cold that they spread to other mice. If they do have a cold it is very possible that they will die. It is like cancer for humans, its not good. I do hope its not a cold. If nothing else works, take them to the vet, (you've got to take them to an exotic animal vet I believe) and if the vet does say its a cold, I would make them most comfortable for when the time comes. If they do have a cold, holding them is not recommended. Just leave them be. Hope this helps and your mice feel better! =)
