expect to pay up to $300.00 an hour for a decorator to tell you what colors, and where to place your furniture, i pant my self so I don't know about the paint or wallpaper stuff.

We have been through this recently and found that they will say walls need more coats of paint to prolong the job and get extra money out of you. Pay lump sum, not a day rate or you will get ripped off. if it is an empty house I would say one average sized room per day using a roller, the hallway may take 2 days. If the attics are large then 2 days each. It should be completed in 2-3 weeks for the lot, just painting. Ensure your light switches and plug sockets are covered before they start or they just paint over them. Lighter colour paints take more coats than darker colours.

I cant understand why people arent looking online for a dam job in this country, especially when more and more employers are looking online for their new recruits. There are so many different sites for all different types of people. This is just an example for anyone whos interested - acejobfinder.com - and because its online you dont need to feel self conscious (if you dont like the job move on). I think its a mindset, anyone in their teens will probably be drawn to the internet for work while those of us (me included) who are over 30 still think there is a ‘proper’ way to make a living.

I paid around £2,500 for 3 rooms and a hallway ans stairs ceiling. Pay cheaper and the work will be shoddy. It's worth investing in a good decorater.

  • It's almost impossible to say without knowing how many layers of wallpaper, any painted? Room sizes? Paintwork? How many doors? I have been quoted £1000 to strip a large through lounge of painted textured paper, strip ceiling paper (painted), put lining paper on walls & ceiling and paint it, paint coving and all woodwork. There's also small amount of sanding and varnishing, just to give you an idea.

Depends how big the rooms are and your stairway? they usually work in square feet of a room and take there price from that and wether the paper is patterned or not and if theres much wood to paint, i.e. staircase
