One of the most important questions in the Nature/Nurture debate is:

"How can we tell what trait or behaviour is generated by which?"

The answer is very complex. Once it was assessed my twin studies. Twins that were separated immediately after birth and brought up in different families. These were split into two groups Mz and Dz.

Mz = monozygotes (coming from the same egg I.E. identical twins)

Dz = Dyozygotes (different eggs I.E. non identical twins)

Unfortunately this has now been compromised by studies that show we start to learn 6 weeks before birth.

Toss of the genes can bring about incredible number of variables. I had the opportunity to accompany my Daughter when she met her Birth-Mom for the first time. She was then 24 yrs. old. My husband and I had adopted her when she was 4 weeks old. She had not spent any time with her B-Mom after the birthing process, but was placed immediately to Children's Services. Upon their first meeting, it was evident that their gestures, laughter and mannerisms were almost identical. But with more time together, their differences became apparent. My Daughter was more stable--less flighty, and made more productive choices. They had six-yrs long-distance relationship before the B-Mom died of a compromised immune system from 10 yrs' use of cocaine. My Daughter has gone on, creating a healthy life style and family. One interesting similarity, was that years before they met, they both had traveled and lived in the Middle East! My Daughter, as a young women hitch-hiked over Europe with friends, and worked on a kibbutz in Israel and lived for a year in Tel Aviv sp? While her B-Mom lived in Iran for 10 years, exporting rugs and drugs to the States. Overall I believe that Life Needs NURTURING of NATURE.
