puppy very sick after giving her pills for roundworm !?
ive been giving my 8 week old husky pup worm pills for round worms for the past two days, about an hour ago, she threw up a large amout of worms, some dead some alive. is this normal?? help!
yes, the breeder was a joke, i basically rescued her.
all the pups were in a wire box OUTSIDE. when i took the pup home, she was only 6 weeks old, she was infested with fleas and i was unaware of the worm problem until two or three days ago. I have reported the " breeder" so hopefully the puppies have been removed from the property.

Yes. A puppy with a very heavy worm burden will throw up worms. Make sure she's pooping. In some cases a dog with a serious worm infestation cannot pass the large amount of dead worms and needs vet attention.
The puppy should have been wormed every 2 weeks from the time it turned 2 weeks of age so whomever you got this pup from was a really terrible breeder.
Pups can die from a serious worm burden because their stomach and intestines are chock full of worms and the worms take all nutrition from the pup.

It is normal and It means the juvenile worms who moved up into the stomach were expelled from the body YAY !
You should still contact your vet.. OR whoever prescribed the pills for advise if they are making the pup sick after a while.Sometimes they have sensitive stomach after worming and do vomit.
Yes.. Unfortunately th "breeder" didnt evn care about the pups health enough to administer a generic wormer. I just experienced the same with a pup. She passed a HUGE roundworm and a ball of other roundworms..She is MUCH happier now :)

Yes it's normal, usually the worms will come out in the stool, but sometimes they throw them up as well.
do not stop the medication until all signs of the worms are gone.
