Most top schools do not give financial scholarships; everyone there is smart. Only need-based aid. Weighted GPAs are meaningless, but with several D's and probably a low class rank he probably does not have a shot at a top school. Princeton regularly turns down 4.0 students and valedictorians; he needed top grades in the hardest classes and great test scores just to compete with the other applicants, and on top of that he would have needed to stand out. And since you're asking about financial aid, I'm guess you can't buy his way in like Meg Whitman did for her sons (it cost her 30 million). I think one of them still got expelled.

ALL colleges are going to want his cumulative unweighted GPA from the end of junior year. That means freshman, sophomore and junior transcripts.

With D's on his transcripts I highly doubt he would be accepted into Princeton. Student with perfect 4.0's can be denied.

At my daughter's college you needed an unweighted cumulative GPA in core subjects of a 3.7 for a scholarship.

You can go on any college web site to see what scholarships they offer and what the requirements are for them. These are scholarships direct from the school.

You (or hey your son) can contact the HS guidance office for a list of scholarships. You can go to the public library for a list of college scholarships.

I highly suggest getting the college magazine Newsweek's How To Get Into College 2011, there is a new one out every year. Also go to your public library for all college info, college requirements, how to apply, writing a college essay, financial aid, scholarships...

Princeton was once equal to MIT or Harvard ...

Princeton is counted in Top most schools in USA

They care what student has taken in all past years + SAT/GMAT + extra curricular + GPA (main thing) A "D" grade won't help but instead the student be best at SAT score. than there is a 70% chance to get in Princeton..
