Does red hair skip a generation?

Just wondering, because my dad was a ginger and it would be awesome if my kids were so i'd like to know :)

    Not necessarily.

My son was a toe-head blonde the first 12 years and then turn light red.

He got progressively darker as he got older. And I never saw one red-headed relative as I was growing up.

In fact I never met a red-head from my husbands side of the family.

I grew up with a family with a red-headed father and two of their five kids were red.

So sometimes it will skip and other times it will not.
