Harvest moon 64 rom assistance, please?
I'm trying to start a new game using an emulator, but when I get to the 'chose a diary' screen I'm unable to do anything. My key pad can go to different diaries and to 'delete' and 'move'. However, neither the start key or my A key will do anything, so I can't select a diary. And I have tried all the buttons, just to be safe. I don't know what to do....

ROM's and Emulators aren't made for each other. General the main issue could be that THAT ROM doesn't fit the emulator that you've chosen. You can try an alternate emulation program or maybe reinstalling either the ROM or emulator that you have an giving it another go.
You can also attempt to reset the key bindings and change em to a new key and see if that works, otherwise the files could simply be missing sections or corrupted.
