New Expansion Team in the NHL?

Ok, so, I've asked this question before, but I find the answers to be interesting, especially when people get creative. The NHL has decided to create a new team, and you get to be the owner. Here are the rules: There cannot be an NHL team or AHL team in the city/town, there can't be a team that used to exist there but failed, and Bettman hates Canada, so he said it can be anywhere but Canada (does not have to be in North America, but cannot be across the Ocean, since that would cause travel issues).

Which city would you choose, and why?

What would you call the team?

What would the colors and logo be?

What would the mascot be?

Pick Your players: not a full team, but the top 6 forwards, 4 dmen, and 2 goalies (but you cannot choose a franchise player, so any player a team has locked-up long term or who wears a letter cannot be chosen)

Pick Your Captains

Update:

the reason for the restriction is b/c in an expansion situation, teams would be given a chance to protect certain players (for instance, the Caps would protect Ovechkin, Backstrom, Carlson, and Green). Rather than listing all the players, I just simplified it a little

    1. Portland. Most viable economic climate north of the mason dixon line. Unlike Seattle, it does not practically neighbor an existing NHL franchise and therefore there would be no infringement upon an existing NHL fanbase.

    2. The Oregon Falling Redwoods. Get the frick out of the way or youre gonna get crushed.

    3. Red, Green and Grey.

EDIT- I didnt see that Patricks colors were similar so I'll exlpain mine. Red for the wood, Green for the foliage, Grey for the perpetually-overcast skies of the Pacific Northwest.

    4. Timbear. Get it? Timber + Bear? Im impressed with my wit today...its sharp like a Chicago Blackhawks forward. His garb would be not unlike that of Smokey the Bear. His motto?

"Only YOU can prevent the franchise from folding and moving to Hamilton or Mississauga."

    My players:

OL1: Brad Richards (Captain), Ales Hemsky, Alex Semin

OL2: David Krejci, Jiri Hudler, Matt Duchene

    DL1: Zach Bogosian, Brent Seabrook

    DL2: Dustin Byfuglien, Niklas Kronwall

    G: Jimmy Howard, Tuukka Rask

I think its unreasonable to ask that the player neither be even an ALTERNATE captain or a player that is locked up for more than 2 or 3 years. All of my players' contracts expire before 2012-13. Most of them will be UFAs. None of them are captains.

i might could say Ottawa. nevertheless Tampa gained a cup and San Jose is a perennial contender, Ottawa's made 11 consecutive playoff appearances, which i think of in the final 2 a protracted time is 2d(tied with New Jersey) in basic terms to Detroit. in addition they gained the president's trophy. i do no longer think of you additionally could make a reliable argument for a collection like Tampa Bay. particular they gained a cup, yet they have had quite a few terrible seasons too. earlier, i might say the only group extra valuable controlled than Ottawa because of the fact the early ninety's is Detroit.

You kind of deflated it with the whole "no NHL/AHL or former franchise there" rule... I was going to say Hartford, then Maine, the Providence, buuuuuuuut nooooo!

    Milwaukee brewmasters/cheesemen/herd

I have no idea. I was rolling with Baltimore, but it would be encroaching on the Caps' territory.
