Invisible Ink, How can I make the combination visible again?
Invisible Ink, How can I make the combination visable again?
I received and very nice SAFE about a week ago.
I have the key but the combination to the lock was printed on a piece of standard paper with a black felt tip marker. The paper was in a plastic bag but the paper got wet and the ink with the combination vanished.
I can just barely see that there is something there if there is fluorescent light hitting the paper from both sides.
I figure I have one chance to retrieve the combination.
Any of you super chemist sleuths know how to bring back the writing?

Try viewing the slip under infrared light and under ultraviolet light. One or the other may bring out the original writing.

since the ink has gone because of being wet, it's probably bled too, so you wont be able to get anything off of the paper.
on most safe's there is a way to reset the combination, and there are usually 2 combinations for a digital safe, they might not have known the second and it might be left as the default code.
google the safe and see if you can find the default code, or a way to reset/change the code, you might be able to open it with the key and then reset it.

If that's a mechanical lock, then you certainly could have as many is going as you like. If that's digital, there is frequently a key override to that, so in case you have the main important - that's going to in all probability open with that. i will permit you understand extra, yet you are able to PM me somewhat than tell the worldwide.
