is my computer infected?

When I, for instance, click start, type "Word" right-click it-->properties-->shortcut "ctrl-alt-w"-->apply, it says that I "will need to provide administrator permission". when I click "continue" it just works, theres no UAC prompt, it just adds the shortcut. is this a symptom of a known virus?

    That's what happens when you HAVE administrative privileges. It's to prevent some program from sneaking through when an Administrator runs it.

    This is normal.
