Can my children leave my new wife penniless? I just married my companion of 3 years.Years before I married her?
I willed everything to my 4 adult children. They don't know I married her, because her and I where afraid they would be very opposed mostly because of the money I've willed to them. Do I need to spend money updating my will in order to leave my wife anything? or is she entitled to a share regardless?
We live and where married in Washington state.

Right now, everything would go to your children. They would not be required to give your wife anything. Unfortunately, the only way to make sure that everyone will get what you want them to get is to change your will.
People are only entitled to what the will says.
Don't make the rest of your life about your will. Have fun with your money. Go somewhere interesting with your wife. Good luck.

Change the will to include your new wife. It sounds like your kids have you by the short and curlies. If money is more important to adult children than your happiness, than do they deserve the full inheritance?
By the time they find out they're only receiving a portion, you'll be deal and won't have to deal with it, anyway.

Renew the will because it's cheaper for your spouse in the long run!!! They could easily take her to court with the will you have now and leave her penniless. Change it ASAP

It costs $100 to update a will. It would be well worth it. Otherwise the old will stands.

Bleep the adult children. It is your money and your life. Visit with a sharp attorney and enjoy yourself.

Yes, if you want to leave your new wife anything...you will have to revise the will
