American Football is played in something over 60 countries. There is an international organization that controls a lot of it. There are teams from young to adult and even a World Cup of American Football played every 4 years. The link below is a Google search page filled with references to the IFAF.

Surprisingly yes, I've known many people in Europe who play American Football. They don't have in high schools directly, but they have students in private organizations who play football. Some of them love it to death and enjoy it more than soccer or rugby. It's not a very high percentage, but yes, they do play American Football.

The Pats' Sebastian Vollmer moved to Texas from Germany when he was 15 and is easily one of the better Tackles in the league. As far as HSers in Europe go, Soccer is probably the sport of choice.

In generall? NO.
Very few people in europe (but they do exists) play american football.
But they are hardly noticed because the broad mass of europeans has absolutely no interesst in
this sport.

soccer (football) is No 1 sport for young men!
