Aspirin alternative for daily use?

I have had some minor heart problems in the past and my GP has advised daily aspirin but I am concerned about side effects such as stomach problems.

Does anyone know of an alternative without these side effects?

You can buy a buffered aspirin that is much more tolerated by your stomach. The answer is yes, consult a pharmacist.

Your doctor has probably recommended the low dose 75mg Aspirins. The standard dose is 300mg. Low dose Aspirin rarely causes stomach problems unless you have a pre-existing tendency to stomach bleeding.

An alternative approach to reducing blood clotting is to take fish oils and Vitamin C. This will cost you a lot more than Aspirin and there's no concrete evidence that it's any better for you. Don't switch unless your doctor agrees.

The benefits outweigh the risks by a long way. But if you are bothered buy / ask for 'enteric coated' asprin - these have a coating that meas they are passed through the stomach before being absorbed so don't cause problems.

I recently came across this product which may offer an alternative

They claim it is the only product so far approved by the new EU rules on health claims!
