Because it was on the final lap, GWC doesn't go out if caution comes out on the final lap. So they're not making it up as they go. If it comes out on the last lap then they normally race to the line but they said since the wreck was right at the line then it would have been unsafe so they had to freeze the field as if it wasn't on the last lap.

EDIT: They said the reason they didn't race to the line is because the wreck was right at the line so it would have been unsafe for them to race to the line since they would have went right into the wreck at full speed. So they just did the caution like they would if it wasn't on the last lap.

EDIT: mbl - If you're complaining so much about Dega then just don't watch the Dega races. I know you love racing but I'd rather you just not watch Dega races and see the results than have you complain on every Dega question on here about how boring the race was and blah blah blah. I know you have your opinion but seriously why complain on every Dega question like that, just don't watch the races if you don't like them.

EDIT: mbl - lol I just said I know you have an opinion so that's ok but why complain about Dega in EVERY Dega question. Just like a JR hater complaining about JR in every JR question. But even though everybody gives an opinion on here this isn't a place to give opinions, it's to answer questions. I know I do it, just saying this "forum" is made to ask and answer question, not give opinions lol.

It was the final lap. The rule is:

Once the field takes the white flag, if the caution comes out, the field is frozen and the race is over.

They're not making anything up as they go, that's the rule and that's how it went.

    UPDATE:

99potatoes, I agree with you too. They should race back to the checkered no matter what once the white flag comes out.

@mbl.....LOL. This is actually a question and answer site, not an open forum designed to give opinions. Have you been on drugs or something lately? Maybe you should go to the Formula 1 section.

Race is over once the white flag is taken by leader if caution comes out after that. I think the rule is uber retarded but Nascar got it right. What a stupid race that was.

Potatoman: I agree...somewhat. I have a huge problem with a race ending anywhere but the S/F line. The old system was perfect. This one is lame.

ChevyPride: I'm a masochist I guess. The fact that I love Nascar so much is why I get so frustrated with things. And Lord forbid I give an opinion on a website designed as a forum to give opinions. I get one, you get one.

I agree with Ethan, but, I think they should race to the Checkered flag, wreck or not.

there is no gwc because the leaders took the white flag

and there was no race back to the line because of the wreck in the finish line area

What matt said ^^ sums up why there was no GWC @ Hallowdega!

Source(s): Really wished 88 won! -My own knowledge of the GWC rule.
