It dies because the surface area is no longer sufficient to allow adequate diffusion of nutrients and waste products in and out of the cell - it either suffocates, starves or drowns in its own waste

the outdoors are-to-quantity ratio decreases because of the fact the cellular's length will enhance. because of the fact of this bacteria and different prokaryotes can't improve previous a definite element. Eukaryotic cells are pretty greater advantageous, yet nonetheless can't improve too large, because of the fact quicker or later there is not any longer adequate floor area to soak up and grant something of the cellular with nutrition. because of the fact of this multicellular organisms exist. If cells would desire to become as large as people, we would not want greater advantageous than one cellular.

If you mean it physically becomes too swollen, it will lyze (ie. "explode" like josh e said).
If you mean "too big" as in it can't transfer things across the membrane fast enough to support it, then what GLH said.

If it's an animal cell then it will burst. If it's a plant cell then it will be really stiff
