A few beret questions.?

In my JROTC unit we have been permitted to wear berets (Make no fuss, they are within regulation. We do NOT wear any colors that are utilized in the armed forces i.e. black, tan, maroon, etc.)

Here's my question : What is the liner in the beret look like, is it the drawstring in it?

What's the difference between this beret, http://www.paradestore.com/detail.aspx?ID=254

and this beret http://www.paradestore.com/detail.aspx?ID=581

Thanks.

if you're looking to shape it like a military beret: dont get a lined one. i've never seen a lined one actualy, but if there is a liner in it it will be too bulky to shape.

the drawsring is always in teh black leather/cloth around the base of the beret.

I am in the Canadian Forces and we all wear berets. All of our come with liners, but 99% of us cut it out. Too bulky that way. It looks like the pictures show that the felt is bigger between the two. If you get the beret with the bigger felt it tends to look like a pizza hat after you form it, (really long and hangs over your ear). The liner should have nothing to do with the drawstring. The drawstring is in the black leather band. I hope that helps...

The first thing you will do is cut out any liner that is there and tie the drawstring, cut and burn the ends. And the backing will have to be trimmed down before shaping unless you want to look like a soup sandwich. Eleven up and three down...all ate up.
