That is a very good question. To be feared would mean you could control whatever nation for my example the UK as a terror state. Basically no one will undermine you or go aganist you and people will fear for their own lifes and future by the way in which this feared King or Queen would act in reposnse. Nevertheless if people fear a King or Queen they could potientially try to kill the royal ruler to stop terror and fear and that way its not the most stable tactic.
To be a Loved King or Queen would be the case of the King or Queen obeying the people and the nation which then you won't have much power and you will be pushed around. But nevertheless you will be loved and will have great support and kindness with a loyal, trustworthy Nation.
I hope you liked my view for your question and i hope its a good answer :)

A good balance is perfect. The best is to be respected. If someone is feared the people respect them out of fear. Fear leads to hatred which is not good. If the people hate the king when opposed no one will support him. Also when you look back in history you will see people free themselves from fear. If you are loved the people love you but do not respect you. There will be many uprising but the commoners will support use. The best thing is to be a fair just ruler. Then the people will love you and respect you.

Yes.
Meaning Both. You want to be equally feared and loved. Feared and loved by the right people, though. Loved by the nobles and people who can keep you safe and keep your coffers filled but you also have control over who gets what land and titles, so they will try to stay in your good favor. the rest of your kingdom should feel the same, they should think you generally care about them. Host feasts and all that jazz but they should still be a little afraid.
