Is anyone surprised that the party in power loses seats in the midst of a recession?
Considering it's happened over and over throughout history.
It was a big landslide in the House, but you actually have to do something with the new power, instead of obstructing the Democrats. You have to remember that overall, Republicans are still the minority in government....it is not a mandate.

Sir, you have many errors on your question. at the beginning each and all of the seats in the living house of Representatives, (435) are up for grabs. keep in mind, the Republicans did have administration of the living house until now the 2008 election. those are sort new Democrats in before Republican districts, how nicely do you think of they are going to do? 2nd, the Republicans purely would desire to %. up 40 of them to take administration. while administration of the living house switched from Democrat to Republican in 1996 (Clinton) and delivered in Newt Gingrich as Speaker, the Republicans picked up 50 seats. So, taking decrease back administration of the living house isn't purely obtainable it incredibly is possibly. do no longer' overlook the Blue canines which will additionally swap events. the nicely suited thank you to state custom could be to assert that the celebration in ability in simple terms approximately consistently looses seats even while the celebration in ability and the President have good approval numbers. it incredibly is additionally, no longer the case on the instant. the reason being, the persons who voted for those now very unpopular Democrats at the instant are not inspired to vote. The Republicans are. this could be an historic shift. the two properties will probable shift to Republican administration and so will the White living house in 2012. humorous you point out the 20 th century. This ain't the 20 th century anymore. The Democrats was once waiting to matter on the Senior voters help in the 20 th century. you may overlook that, now. *

I know Liberals will try to avoid taking responsibility for their failure as always, the fact is this is the biggest loss in power over such a period of time in US history.
In less than 2 years Democrats went from holding a super-majority in both house, to losing the House in a landslide and losing enough seats in the Senate to have only a few seats edge.

How quickly the corporate dupe neocons forget that this is Bush's recession. Eight years of fiscal irresponsibility caused the recession which was merely triggered by the bank loans scandal while Bush was in office.
The only reason McCain chose a looney tune like Palin is because he didn't want to win the election and be saddled with the ruined economy. It took Clinton nearly six years to fix the economy after Reagan and Bush trashed it, why should you expect Obama to do it in two?

1. We're not in a recession
2. No party has lost this many seats in over 74 years
This is a reflection of America's disdain for Obama's radical Liberal agenda.

It hasn't happened over and over throughout history. The Presidency changes hands, but Democrats have had the majority in both houses for the most of the last century.

Lose seats? Yes. Lose 55 seats? No. If he was doing a better job--he wouldn't have experienced such a "Shallacking", in Obama's own words.

Liberals lost more seats last night than the Conservatives lost in 2006 and 2008 combined.

This election was one for the record books. I think Y News said it is the biggest turnover since 1938.

It's happened over and over, you are correct. There are many voters who simply don't want one party to control everything, so they vote for the other party. I think many people didn't so much vote for Republicans as they voted to just not have Dems in control of everything. Swings back and forth each election to varying degrees.
