Is Hell expanding at a rate faster than the increase of souls?
Or are the increasing number of souls entering hell at a faster rate?
The following is an actual question given on a University of Arizona chemistry mid term, and an actual answer turned in by a student.
First, we need to know how the mass of Hell is changing in time. So we need to know the rate at which souls are moving into Hell and the rate at which they are leaving, which is unlikely. I think that we can safely assume that once a soul gets to Hell, it will not leave. There fore, no souls are leaving. As for how many souls are entering Hell, let's look at the different religions that exist in the world today.
Most of these religions state that if you are not a member of their religion, you will go to Hell. Since there is more than one of these religions and since people do not belong to more than one religion, we can project that all souls go to Hell. With birth and death rates as they are, we can expect the number of souls in Hell to increase exponentially. Now, we look at the rate of change of the volume in Hell because Boyle's Law states that in order for the temperature and pressure in Hell to stay the same, the volume of Hell has to expand proportionately as souls are added.
This gives two possibilities:
1. If Hell is expanding at a slower rate than the rate at which souls enter Hell, then the temperature and pressure in Hell will increase until all Hell breaks loose.
2. If Hell is expanding at a rate faster than the increase of souls in Hell, then the temperature and pressure will drop until Hell freezes over.
So which is it?
The answer was given but - I cannot post the content here. lol!
This question is posted in jest and I do hope it will be answered accordingly. :D
Peace and Blessings everyone! :D
The corollary of this theory is that since Hell has frozen over, it follows that it is not accepting any more souls and is therefore, extinct..... ....leaving only Heaven, thereby proving the existence of a divine being.
*This is as much of the answer as I can post here. :D
Okay, let me see if I can edit this in the context of what would be appropriate here so as not to offend anyone. :D
If we accept the postulate given to me by Teresa during my Freshman year that, 'It will be a cold day in Hell before I [do anything like that with you],' and take into account the fact that [she gave in] last night, then number two must be true, and thus I am sure that Hell is exothermic and has already frozen over. The corollary of this theory is that since Hell has frozen over, it follows that it is not accepting any more souls and is therefore, extinct..... ....leaving only Heaven, thereby proving the existence of a divine being which explains why, last night, Teresa [repeticiously said] 'Oh my God!'
THIS STUDENT RECEIVED AN A+.
Wow! I have received some really interesting answers! :D
Thank you !

Very interesting question; I shall answer this question by stating a short verse from the Nag Hammadi and then I shall expound on it further.
Light and Darkness
Light and Darkness, life and death, and right and left are siblings of one another, and inseparable, For this reason the good are not good, the bad are not bad, life is not life, and death is not death. Each will dissolve into its original nature, but what is superior to the world cannot be dissolved, for it's eternal.
So, Is evil expanding? Yes, it is, but so is truth and goodness to those who's eyes are opening to evil and their blindness is being removed as they begin to know and see themselves and from where they came. Evil shall return from where it came, the Darkness, while light/truth and goodness continues on and on and is never-ending.
I end with this also from the Nag Hammadi;
Light Overcomes Darkness
The light will over the darkness and banish it. The darkness will be like something that never was, and the source of darkness will be dissolved. Deficiency will be pulled out by its root and cast down into the darkness, and the light will be drawn up to its root.
The glory of the unbegotten will appear adn fall all the eternal realms when the prophets adn the writings of the rulers are revealed and fulfilled by those who are called perfect. Those who have not become perfect in the unbegotten Father will receive glory in their realms and the kingdom of immortals, but they will never enter the king-less realm.
All must return to the place from where they came from. By what they do and what they know all of them will reveal their natures.
As evil expands so does the Kingdom of God on earth, yet few truly find it and those who do, the world knows them not for they are silent. Yet, all acknowledge evils ways.

Great Question
I like the two possibilities.
What a dilemma! I think I'll just wait and see, and hope that it's in the freezing over stage when I arrive.
The student who answered this question deserves an "A Star" for originality of answer. It made me hoot with laughter. :) :) :)

If my memory is correct they once taught us in Sunday School that Hell was in the center of our earth. So if the total mass that expands during the heating process form the inner core averaging around the temperature of 2,200 and the pressure pot has all those human souls tipped into the cooking pot by the Devil. Then the pressure cooker sometimes erupts and breaks its seal and the magma which is made up of earth and earthling souls boils out of the pot into the outer core. Thus the outer core gives way to the expansion force gravitated by the outer mantle containment pressure and cracks the outer surface of the earth. Thus all the souls mixed with molten magma rock, sand and earth combined with all that ash from burning souls is let out and spews into the atmosphere and polluting the air we breath.
Now I know this is not true but I am willing to share this example what I was taught in Sunday School so so so long ago. That will teach me to take a book on earthquakes and volcano's to Sunday School and say where the hell is Hell in this lot of the earth it is not mentioned.
Now they are telling me it is all those Black Holes in outer-space.
So Carol let us off the hook what is the real answer. By the way what you been up-to these days.

Great question!
I read once that if you calculate the number of people who must have already lived and died on Earth before our time, it is the same as the number of people who are living now.
Even in the Stone Age, the population of an entire planet would have been close to a million souls.
We don't immediately think of this because we think of Adam and Eve being the only two human beings, plus we hear so infrequently of a preserved skeleton or fragments of very early human beings, so we assume there were only a few folks walking around.
However, that is a mindset not supported by science.
But I love your question! Star for you.

Hell is unquenchable fire (http://www.biblegateway.com/keyword/?search=unquen... )...
It is the earth's outer core (Numbers 16:29-34; Revelation 9:2-3; 20:13-14)!
Now there are some who believe that Abraham's bosom referred to a section of Hades and when the holy people were resurrected (Matthew 27:52-53), Abraham's bosom became part of Hades.
But Abraham's bosom = Paradise = heaven (2 Corinthians 12:2, 4).
Hades can refer to the grave and the lake of fire, but most instances of Hades are referring to the lake of fire.
Anyways, I think #1 is more likely, as 2 Peter 3:10 indicates earth's fiery destruction and Revelation 20:13-14 (http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=revela... ) is literal.
The reference to the sea indicates that this is literal. Death and Hades refers to the literal grave.

I'd have to say number 2. My reason being that the guy who swore up an down he'd never be in a relationship, and me, who swore the same, are approaching our 2 year, so Hell MUST have frozen over

Interesting Q dear (((Glow Wings : )))
Perhaps this truth may apply here ?
Woe to those who rise early in the morning, That they may follow intoxicating drink; Who continue until night, till wine inflames them!
The harp and the strings, The tambourine and flute, And wine are in their feasts; But THEY DO NOT REGARD THE WORK OF THE LORD, NOR CONSIDER THE OPERATION OF HIS HANDS.
Therefore my people have gone into captivity, Because they have NO KNOWLEDGE; Their honorable men are famished, And their multitude dried up with thirst.
Therefore Sheol (Hell) has ENLARGED itself And opened its mouth beyond measure; Their glory and their multitude and their pomp, And he who is jubilant, shall descend into it.
People shall be brought down, Each man shall be humbled, And the eyes of the lofty shall be humbled.
But the LORD of hosts shall be exalted in judgment, And God who is holy shall be hallowed in righteousness.
Then the lambs shall feed in their pasture, And in the waste places of the fat ones strangers shall eat.
Isa 5:11-17
Source(s): Wow!... this passage shows in detail...exactly WHY HELL HAS ENLARGED itself... God...may we always regard your Works and consider the operation of Your hands...and humble ourselves under your MIGHTY HAND...and increase in Your knowledge...daily Great Q: thanks Carole... good to see (read) you again! : ) Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you in due time, 1Pe 5:6 - Anonymous1 decade ago
Please e-mail me the answer. Hell is probably getting more souls at a faster rate because of sheer ignorance of the laws of physics and arrogance, which is, after all, one of the seven deadly sins according to the Catholic Church. Oh, I belong to more than one religion, although I will only declare one. I'm definitely Protestant.

Blessings to everyone . then, #2 cannot be true, and thus I am sure that Hell is exothermic and will not freeze."Urban legend.
FAIL!!!
I like this because the Bible says that hell is ni the middle of the earth, and that it will disappear for ever.

This is just the same as to say light days (days) are becoming shorter as the nights are becoming longer. If that is what is actually happening we can tend to believe you.But just observe and get your own answer.
