Termite Problem in apartment?
My friend lives in a kind of shady apartment complex and last night found termites on her couch.. so this morning she called her apartment manager and they said the termites are coming out because of the heat & they aren't going to do anything about it.
I don't know much about termites but I'm assuming if they are on her couch that's probably not great. She also has a dog & a cat and I'm not sure if they affect them or not.. .is there anything she can do to get her apartment to take care of the problem?
the apartment is in southern california, garden grove area.

They do not have to do anything. This only lasts a few days....it is weird they are swarming now, but it does not last long.

If it is only a couple that flew in from outside then the landlord is right however if these are from colonies (probably of drywood termites) living in the building then the landlord is way wrong and has a duty of care to keep the apartment structurally sound. Check with your local renter laws. You could formally request that the landlord provide evidence that the apartment isn't compromised by termite attack (not what you want in strong winds or storms).
