My car is leaking power steering fluid.?
So I drive a Subaru Impreza 2.5 RS, and I just replaced my power steering pump. Then after that it leaks a whole lot of power steering fluid and I found out that the high pressure hose were broken so it had a hole. I put on clamps and low pressure hose temporarily and it worked fine. Today out of nowhere when I parked my car, ALL of the power steering fluid leaked out onto my drive way, it was right below the power steering reservoir. I am worried that this might be the power steering rack problem, I am not sure. The power steering fluid leaks onto my cars headers and it burns up the fluid causing it to smoke alot. Currently I have no power steering fluid since I do not want my car to smoke. Does anyone know if this could be the high pressure hose problem?

you have to use the right hose. The high pressure hose can run up to 700 PSI and the low pressure hose can only hold around 250 to 300 PSI. Use the proper hose and it shouldn't burst the hose

If you ran the pump dry you probably burned up the new power steering pump. Also, replace the high pressure hose with the same type of hose. Band aiding the hose will not fix it. Its under extreme high pressure. Hence the high pressure hose. The low side you can bandaid it will your blue in the face.

Hmm. The high pressure hose had a hole in it and you replaced it with the wrong hose and now the fluid has blown out. What would you think could be the problem? Maybe a cheap low pressure hose cannot deal with the pump pressure and blew.
