Why there is no she God ? Why Gods are always male ?

Update:

Its so frustrating to see that most of the answerers do not comprehend the question at all !

The question was meant to know your views as to why there is never a SUPREME FEMALE GOD ? What every body discussed was Hindu female deities who are in a way known as avatars or lesser part of the Supreme creator. All the Hindu deities are not Supreme GOD and the supreme God or creator in Hinduism is BRAHMA. So also Christianity and Islam has their supreme God and who definitely is male. Please folks come out of your shells and don't behave like some stone age rustics.

God is a hypothetical identity. As our society is male dominated, the entire universe is believed to be dominated by male or He- God and not she- God.

However, in Hindu thoughts, there is a concept of ARDH NAREESHWAR ( HALF WOMAN GOD).

Moreover, every Hindu God has a Goddess wife. Examples: shiva Parvati, Vishnu Laxmi.. Mohammedans have only one Allah of God and I do not know much about the concept. Christian God is also probably male.

We may expect that when our society becomes female dominated or gender equality comes through, She God may be invented.

The word God is gender specific, it refers to a male like the word "boy" for a male child. The opposite gender of God would be "Goddess" which refers to a female deity, just as the word "girl" refers to a female child.

  • Who told you this stupidity my dear friend? There are many goddesses -Saraswati,Durga,Lakshmi,Parvathi are a few of them. However no matter whether God is male or female. All such deities are different form of the 'Supreme'.

    All the best.

Brahman is genderless, formless, timeless and almighty. If we address Him as HE or HIM is because it would be disrespectful to address Him as IT.

Brahman manifests Himself in many Gods and Godesses like Sri Lakshmi, Sri Durga, Sri Saraswati, Sri Ganga, Bhumi Devi, Kali, Sita, Radha.

For your this "WHY?", man came to this wold first, so first Male God, Secondly among male and female, 'male' is considered to be more perfect and God has to be 'perfect'

Hindu religion have so many female GODDESS'S. (1) Parvati, (2) Durga, (3) Kali, (4) Lakshmi

There is a rather massive list of goddesses who have been worshiped historically, and are still being worshiped today. Ask your Pagan or Hindu acquaintances about goddesses.

Save for the Abrahamic religions, there are just as many female Gods as male. i.e. Freya, Frigga, Idune, Sif....

the main GOD -------is described in capital G--------main God is also called by many names as nirguna brahman, jehovah, allah,God ,atnatu etc etc by people of different faiths

the derivatives or avataras of the main God ----------are described in small ''g''-----gods and goddesses
