I really don't get it, we have no objection to the hunting of deer, elf, moose, or any number of other game animals, we have no objection to fishing or the consumption of beef, yet the simple thought of whaling invokes a foaming at the mouth response. Why? The main whale the Japanese hunt today is the Minke, which is far from endangered. Less than 2,000 a year are harvested, out of a population estimated somewhere between 500,000 and 1 million, and estimated to be growing at a rate of 7% every year.

In short, the hunting is perfectly sustainable, so why is there such a moral outcry? I'm not trying to bait anyone here, I just genuinely don't get it.

In the Prose Edda Odin States "When on the road or in a strange hall, keep thy weapons by they side, lest battle should find you unprepared." (1932 translation) Does this mean that we should continue to carry arms today? Or is it more of a caution to be prepared in general?

I always seemed strange to me that artists who can draw humans with immaculate detail and beautiful, rune inscribed swords, draw guns that look, well, daft. Bent barrels, fat magazines, missing pieces, or all to commonly, just a black "L" shape, which really contrasts to the rest of the drawing. Is it a lack of models or experience?

Aren't they supposed to "Love their neighbor"? Is it because Jesus hungout with whore's and tax collectors, but Asatrur and other pagans are worse than these?

Assuming someone left a will stating that should they be killed, they would like no charges to be pressed? Sort-of like a shop owner deciding not to press charges against a shop-lifter. It seems like a loophole for the Assisted Suicide people, and I wondered is that would work?

I am Heathen myself, but I'm not really sure how to take these books. Part of me wants to be highly offended, but the other finds the idea of a comic about the Gods, even one so woefully inaccurate, amusing. On the off chance any other Odinists or Atatrur' are on, what do you think?

When I was a christian I noticed that Muslims, Hindus, Jews, and the like were despised, and were the subject of many fiery sermons, but blacks, Asians, and Middle easterners were all members of the church and free from persecution. When I converted to Asatru I was disowned by my father and I even caught a member of the church half way through slashing my tires. why is there such a double standard?

My father is a hardcore christian. When I converted to Asatru as a College student, he threatened to disown me, and my sister (the only family member to whom I still speak) claims that only my stepmothers intervention prevented him from doing so. Would this be an acceptable reason to disown someone?

I am a pagan, and thus not part of a major church, but am interested in becoming a priest. Can I be ordained without a church, and how?

I'm looking to build a shrine to Odin, where sermons and sacrifice will be held, and I'm wondering if there are any extra laws, other than those that apply to any place of worship, brought on by the fact that sacrifices take place there. It will be in a temple and contained, but open to the public like most churches and temples.
