Best Dog Breeds With Cats?

I'm looking to get a dog soon and wanted to know some more dog breeds I could research that tend to get along well with cats as we have three.

Update:

I realize that representatives of most breeds can be trained to do well with cats but I also know that some breeds are more likely than others to do well and thats what Im looking for.

For example, breeds like terriers with tendencies for higher prey drives are probably not going to be good candidates and indeed we had a roommate at one time with a pit mix who was an absolute terror to deal with in regards to the cats. Conversely my parents husky/lab mix is wonderful with cats.

I want to give myself the best possible opportunity to find a lifelong companion by first researching the breeds and mixes of those breeds which are most likely to work with our house and its current residents.

Any dog can get along with cats, as long as they are raised with them and/or are trained properly.

My adopted 90-pound, 14 months old (got him when he was nine months old), GSD/Collie/Lab/Etc. mix has been an absolute DREAM with my cats. Best dog ever, but he was also raised with cats in his previous home (which is probably why he's so good with them now). He's also great with my mother's cats when we go to visit her, and he's never once become even remotely aggressive with cats (even when they kept trying to scratch his face off during the first few weeks I had him...).

Any breed can be good if raised with them...ive had huskies, "pits", different fosters and now a border collie with my cats...a border collie wont stay awy though as said above...mine herds my cats all day long.

Its impossible to say...Huskies are known for high prey drive and like you say your parents is fine with them...it depends on too many factors outside of the breed.

My chihuahuas are safe with cats, although the cats often lash out at them. My old rough collie used to bite the cats but I think he was jelous of their royalty to be quite honest.

Any dog can get along with cats if you train them early.

Most dogs will do well with them if raised from a young age with them.

Get a Border Collie! They are so cute and tame. They will stay away from your cat!
