Where can I buy a High Quality UV flashlight?

I need a decent UV flashlight to react with luminol, used to show bloodstains in forensic science, for a project. It need to have a long burn time and use standard batteries. Around 50$ is my spending limit, and preferably would like it to be in a store. I have tried google, but cant find a good one in my price range.

Luminol fluoresces by itself, without excitation by UV light. If you're looking for a general-purpose UV forensic lamp, I recommend that you go with one that uses a fluorescent tube, as opposed to an LED based one. You can get one for under fifty bucks but probably not in a store unless there is a police supply outlet near you (and they're not cheap, and they often do not sell to civilians.) A fluorescent lamp will generate both long and short wave UV and cause more types of chemicals to fluoresce. Be careful and use goggles with short-wave UV. It can cause cataracts and skin burns in just a few minutes of exposure, even if you don't shine the light directly on your skin or eyes. LEDs produce a much longer wavelength of UV and are less effective at lighting up evidence.

If you want a good cheap LED UV flashlight, you can get one at an auto parts store for under 20 bucks; they are used to find leaks in airconditioning systems.

You may be able to find a battery powered fluorescent UV lamp at a store that caters to rock collectors; they are frequently used to excite fluorescent mineral samples and are carried by rockhounds looking for such specimens.

I have a Fenix LD10, a Fenix TK11, and a Fenix PD31. The LD10 is the one that gets the most use, and I like that it takes a single AA battery. It is small, portable, very bright, and has worked very well for the last few years. The TK11 is mounted on a shotgun, and throws a lot of light. Whatever is in the middle of the cone will not survive. It handles the recoil well from the shotgun, and I like the momentary contact switch. The PD31 is new, I just purchased it a few weeks ago. Very bright, and fits into my hand well. Great light for just about any purpose, even though it takes the CR123 batteries. No complaints. I also have a few maglights, and I like them too, especially the mini-mags. I keep one in each car glovebox, and a few more in toolboxes, first aid kits, etc... The LED models are great; they're bright and have a good battery life. They are cheap enough that it is easy to buy a few to stash in places (like the cars) and I've had a few of them more than 10 years. Very reliable. Let's be honest, I'm not stashing a bunch of $70 Fenix flashlights in tool boxes and glove boxes. The mini-mags are great for that purpose, and the Fenix lights I'll carry with me. I'm not a fan of the Surefires. I think they are overpriced compared to what you get, and I haven't been as impressed by the light they throw or the battery life they exhibit when compared to other brands.
