This is not a rhetorical question....?

Where is all the HATE coming from? I'm not talking about the usual mud-slinging/muck-raking to be encountered in an election cycle; I've been looking at some of the political/general questions in Yahoo Answers, and I'm APPALLED at the level of animosity I've encountered. Any insights?

Stakes and emotions run high in politics. You've seen how that can escalate in real life. Put that same emotions into an anonymous forum. When people talk through an anonymous forum they are ruder, cruder, and meaner than in person. Most of the bombastic people on here probably would be shrinking violets in real life.
