All you kids that want to be a sniper!!!!!!!!?

How many of you have gone to your local morgue and took a good long look at a dead person? Go , look and ask yourself .Can I take the life of an unsuspecting person. I realize that sniping is a necessary part of war but just because you can push a button on some silly *** game and eliminate an opponent, it takes a lot more cold bloodedness to take a bead on someone and pull the trigger.

Update:

I am a 100% combat disabled Vietnam vet , and yes I have killed in fire fights. What I am trying to impart is that killing someone is not all glory and accolades , and that seeing a dead person may save someone a lot of grief down the road.

I saw plenty of blood and guts, I was a Corpsman. All the blood and guts I saw was peace time. I've seen self inflicted gun shot wounds...never could understand those....and I've seen people beaten to a bloody pulp at some bar...even that was hard enough.

I can only imagine the pearls of war, and can not understand why some people get all excited about wanting to go be a sniper, special forces ranger hoo ha ha...(or any super para-trooper idea that they want to be tough) I say this not to poke at the ones who are doing it...rather I challenge the romantic idea that some younger folks have about it.

It is not glorious...I respect or war fighters. I've visited a veterans hospital and know who it there. Our military eleite train hard and have the qualifications to do that job. I respect that. I know that I wouldn't last a day in that type of training...so I respect that. There are a number of knuckle heads that think anyone can do it.

The military is not a video game. You can not hit pause during a fire fight...and I never understand those questions either. I think I understand that you are not talking to the true live men and women who serve, but rather the young impressionable jokers who think it is a game.

A Marine Scout Sniper was once asked, "What do you feel when you have a terrorist in your sights?"

    He shrugged and said, "Recoil."

Personally, I would not want to be a sniper, simply because they are often unreinforced and relatively unprotected. If the enemy figures out where you are, you're screwed; there's no one coming in to help you, and you're going to die. THAT fact is what kids who want to be snipers should be considering, not killing someone from 800 yards away. That part is easy; you just do it and go about your day. The stress of being unprotected and knowing that any mistake you make will likely result in a violent death is what gets to people.

I know a couple guys who have gone that route, and they don't care about the killing; it's the environment that gets to them. They always have their back to the wall, they close doors behind them so they can hear when they open again, and they're always looking for death to come out of nowhere. That's what gets to people.

you know that snipers cause my kills by CAS than people they actually shoot right?

secondly, were you a sniper? hell have you even purposely killed a person that wants you dead?

im guessing no, simply because most personel who have dont really talk about it or dont compare it to some random person at a morgue, so if i'm right you have just as much of a clue what you're talking about as those video game playing kids
