This article will bring this to reality:http://www.mcclatchydc.com/2010/11/05/103290/obama...
The trip probably costs about $10 million per day or about $50 million altogether. The Pentagon stated that the claim that 39 ships will be deployed is laughable. The Drudge and Malkin and Beck claims about the trip are all based on an article from an Indian newspaper that was completely bogus....but they ran with it anyway because no lie is big enough for them not to tell it apparently.
Of course it is worth it because he will visit a few very important trading partners and go to the G20 conference during the trip as well. Combined with Secretary of State Hillary Clinton's recent trip through much of Asia, the two leaders will have visited every major Asian trading partner except for China during these recent trips in order to reassure them that the USA is not about to abandon them to China. The know nothings that are lying about the cost of the trip and denigrating its importance are partisan hacks and liars.
Perhaps the most pathetic spectacle was Michelle Bachman repeating the 39 ships security armada fantasy as if it was fact...and she is a Member of Congress. I fear for us.

Obama’s $200 million/day India Trip: Amid Administration Denials 2 US Navy Carrier Battle Groups Cruise Arabian Sea Off The Coast Of Mumbai (Bombay) India. USS Harry S. Truman & USS Abraham Lincoln Carrier Groups Tasked To Conduct “Security Operations” in the Arabian Sea.
The question isn't whether the Carrier Battle Groups are in the Arabian Sea or not, the question is whether the "security operations" that they are conducting are related to the Presidential visit or not.
Visit McAuleysWorld on Wordpress for photos of the flight operations off the USS Harry Truman and the USS Abraham Lincoln along with maps of the Arabian Sea Operations Area. The flight op photos are taken from the DOD (Department of Defense) DVIDS (Digital Video Image Distribution System) and confirm the time and place of operations. The photos include links (you'll need to cut and paste them, sorry) to the original DVIDS documents.
How much does it cost to run two aircraft carrier battle groups for a day? How much does the "shore" personal and "land based aircraft" cost per day. (40 land based aircraft) The advance team (500 in Mumbai, no figure given for how large the advance team in New Dehli was) was in Mumbai 10 days prior to the President's arrival.
Why isn't the Adminstration being honest with the American people?

It all depends. . .
I am sure it costs a lot more than the average person's vacation, but if you look at who is going, and all involved, it is worth the cost.
Also, if you look at the fact that India is the fastest growing economy right now in the world, going over and drumming up some business for the manufacturers in the US is a pretty good thing. I mean, after all, the economy is not the greatest right now, and there are a few people out of work currently. . . Maybe getting some business back to the US may be the way to go.
It is worth it.

The costs of presidential trips are generally not released, since the majority of the costs are for security. However, in the past Clinton went to Africa, and that was billed as the most expensive presidential trip ever. It cost a total of $42 .8 million for a week. There are no statistics on Bush trips.

Well, 0bama's media is spinning the Indian news story that started the big deal http://www.ndtv.com/article/india/us-to-spend-200-... But it does seem a little steep, even for the typical 0bama style party.
BUT, an 11-day trip by then-President Bill Clinton to Africa in 1998 involved about 1,300 people and cost roughly $3.5 million a day, according to the federal Government Accountability Office. That's about $5.2 million after adjusting for inflation.
According to figures from the U.S. Air Force, it costs more than $100,000 an hour to fly Air Force One, meaning Obama's 13-hour flight from Andrews Air Force Base to Mumbai would cost about $1.3 million. However, the trip also includes costs for support staff, Secret Service, equipment and hotels for the whole circus.
To get an idea what's involved in 0bama's skipping around the world in AF1, here's a Natl. Geo. special on AF1 and the logistics of it all.

That information will not be released to the public but common sense should tell people it will not cost $200 million per day because we pay $190 million per day for almost 100,000 troops and equipment in Afghanistan.
Some things the right-wing media is not reporting . Corporate America will show up in force for U.S. President Barack Obama's visit to India, with more than 200 companies expected to attend a conference in Mumbai that will be headlined by the president.
Some of the deals being made:
* Hopeful sale by Boeing in late October of 30 new 737 aircraft, worth $2.7 billion, to private Indian airlines.
* Sale by GE of fighter jet engines worth $800 million to the Indian air force and a separate $500 million sale of heavy duty gas turbines to India's Reliance Energy Ltd.
* Caterpillar: A $50 million marine engine deal for the Indian Coast Guard.
* Building on Cummins' and Eaton Corp's progress in producing natural gas hybrid buses with the Indian firm Tata Motors for the Commonwealth Games that are now being used in the New Delhi transport system.
* Harley-Davidson: Plans a new plant in India to assemble American-made motorcycle kits. The iconic U.S. motorcycle maker announced in January it would launch 12 models in India this year.

I love the way people justify waste in government by saying "probably as much as Bush's trip to the Olympics" or "Kennedy had mistresses" so why can't Clinton be justified in what he did. The problem is WASTE people. Our government is out of control, lets quit justifying it and do something about it. Salaries are public knowledge. New positions in state government on up is public knowledge. Quit worrying about what sex or nationality or party someone belongs to (and lets vote based on that) and start holding these people from local to federal levels accountable for their waste and let's do what Obama promised and forgot about... VOTE FOR CHANGE. Do you guys remember this????? We can tackle one issue at a time! Let's start with our politicians not getting "retirement" after they are out of office, no matter what their age. Let them live like we do on social security. Then they would fix it. These people are capable of making alot of money without earning 1/2 their income after 4-6 years. Let them work. If I loose my job, I'm SOL.

It's been reported the cost for the entire trip will cost $200 million per day. Some liberal media have reported that information is not true. However, to date the liberal media has yet to offer the a correction to the cost of this trip. With the reported 40 airplanes and over 2,000-3,000 people flying with the President the cost will most likely exceed $200M per day. What people fail to take into account is the expense for security and our armed forces who are on call to support this trip.
For a trip that costs let's say $200M per day X 10 days or $2.2B. What are we getting in return? The President has already taken credit for a $10B deal for airplanes with Boeing. However, that deal was already in place long before he boarded a plane. The question is how many more deals will he take credit for that have already been consumated before hand?
The only thing this shows me is our President and his wife know how to spend money and they spend it frivilously. They don't seem to care about the American people who are cutting back, trying to pay off their bills and balance their own budget who will ultimately be paying for his expenses!
In addition, you can add the ridiculous irony of the humongous carbon foot-print for this wholly unnecessary jaunt. Including 40 planes, 34 ships, and 6 armored vehicles, the total output comes to a whopping 8,469 metric tons of CO2 emitted for the Washington-to-Bombay round trip. That’s roughly the equivalent of the CO2 output for the City of Raleigh, NC…for an ENTIRE YEAR! Come on all you greenies out there, where’s all your outrage now?

Have you been concerned about the expenditures of any other President or only this one? Security alone is a fortune, and this is a multi-purpose trip so of course a lot of officials are on the trip. Bachmann of full of it when she keeps spouting off her lies about how much it will cost.

About the same as other Presidents spent on similar trips. Bush spent $7 million just to go see the Olympics, our country was in debt then, no conservatives complained about it. Get Real!
