My son has to do an interview with a United States War Veteran.?

He's looking for suggestions for questions that he should ask. Any ideas?

It mainly depends on what age the Veteran is. For example, if he interviews a WWII Veteran I'd ask if they were drafted or not. But, if he interviews a Gulf War (1991) Veteran then that's not a valid question. Some things that span all Veterans would be things like:

How many years did you serve?

Would you want to do it again?

    Why did you get out?

    What was your job?

    Where were you stationed?

    Did you go overseas?

What was your most favorite memory?

What is your least favorite memory?

That's just some ideas...tell him good luck!

The kinds of questions he asks would depend on what the point of the interview is. For example, if the assignment to write a paper on first person experience of military duty, then questions he could ask would be: why did you join? where did you serve? what was day to day life like? when did you serve? do you feel that your military experience has enriched your life? do you feel like you missed out on anything by serving?

DO not ask if they regret or why they killed.
