Hi fellow seniors,Ladies do you wear makeup? Gentlemen do you like to see ladies wearing makeup?

These days I only wear the bare minimum, a little mascara and lipstick now and again, but I may go up a notch on high days and holidays with a little eye shadow and blusher but nothing to startling.

My two young Granddaughters were having a look around my makeup bag earlier on and tried a few out, lol, they both ended up looking like something out of a horror movie.

So ladies what do you apply and gents what do you think?

    Wow! Very interesting answers.

I am 55 and my husband just passed. For two years I have not been wearing anything but moisturizers as I did not have the time to put make-up on and care for hubby too. Some things had to change and this is one change I had no control over!

Hubby said he thought I was beautiful without make-up. But, when I would dress to go to the doctor and such, he always commented on how pretty he thought I looked!

Since his passing, I have not had any inclination to wear make-up. Yes, I wore full make-up at his funeral, but the tears soon removed most of that.

I do always scent my hair. If I go out or if I am at home! This, I do for me! It was one of the things my hubby loved about being close to me, my scent. I had to give this up for over a year as the radiation made his sense of smell so profound that I could not wear deodorant without it making him ill! I am now back to scenting my hair.

When I wear make-up I generally use mascara, foundation, concealer, lipstick, a bit of blush and grey liner for my eyes. I have pale blue eyes and the grey only highlights them.

I do not wear eye shadows, bright lipsticks, nor anything too dark around my eyes.

One day, I am sure I will get back to wearing make-up as usual, but for now I will only wear make-up when I have to go out for business and appointments.

I think every lady looks good in foundation. I don't think eyeliner and eye shadow should be used after 50. I think a tad of blush is fine though. I haven't worn any makeup on a daily basis for the past twelve years or more because it's too hot in Florida. I do wear makeup though for a special occasion like when I dress up.

Having come from a large family, and having had careers that bring me into contact with a lot of people I can say that men would certainly say no makeup is necessary or required, and it's simply because they are cheap skates and know how expensive it is to buy that makeup and know eventually that cost will come out of their pocket.

I've only worn makeup a couple of times in the last 20 years, the last time was about four years ago when I went to a wedding.

I've only ever used the bare minimum, a foundation and lipstick, trying to look as natural as possible. I don't feel comfortable with more than that. I'm fortunate enough to have a good complexion and very few wrinkles.

I was never one to paint my face before going out... not unless, as you've said, I was headed to an evening event or party of some sort. When I used to sing a li'l, I wore the basics... just enough to bring out my eyes a tiny bit since I have very light colored lashes/brows.

I probably wore a li'l bit of makeup when I did office work here and there... particularly if I was a front desk person or exec secretary.

Nowadays, I rarely put the stuff on anymore and in fact, had to toss out all my old crap as it was outdated and I found out there were expirations on make-ups that could really wreak havoc on one's eyes or lips!

I bought myself that very expensive Bare Minerals stuff... I have to say I love it, but still only bother putting it on if I'm feeling pretty for some reason (rarely) or if I'm going someplace special (even more rarely).

PS... my daughter dies laughing at some of the colors of my old lipsticks and shadows. I told her "Wait, it'll all come back 'round again."

My husband says he likes me best without makeup on but I don't believe it.

I always wear makeup when going somewhere. For the gym, I only use a tiny bit of foundation to smooth out my face, some eyeliner and lipstick, no mascara for me at the gym, they always run no matter how good they say they are.

Everyday look, a good foundation with soft blush, concealer under the eyes, eye shadow in brown hues, dark brown eye liner, a bit of color on the brow, blended in well, mascara and lipstick, sometimes dark shades and sometimes orange-red shades. I have deep set dark brown eyes with very wide high cheeck bones, I feel very frightening without toning down my face with makeup.

I can do it all in under 10min.

For nighttime, a bit more eyeshadow and 3 to 4 coats of mascara and lipliner.

I was in the beauty business for years and just can't get away without using some makeup, I know what a difference it makes.

As I've got older I'm trying more to get away with as little as I can.. these days only concealer and mascara, and a lip-toned lipstick for everyday, sometimes foundation if my skin is looking blotchy.

But when I go out it can be the full works - foundation, eyeshadow, blusher, eyeliner and red lippy, as well as all of the above.

Yes I make up every day. I use Nivea Visage tinted moisturising day cream, Body Shop Lip Line Fixer and one of my Constance Carroll lipsticks. I`d rather go out not wearing any undies on a windy day than not makeup! If I go out I wear eye shadow and mascara as well. Lol....I have to hide my make up bag when I go over to see my granddaughters......my eldest one likes to `put her face on` if she gets the opportunity!

I think a woman is usually more of a woman, and more erotic, when she is natural in every way. No cosmetics, no perfume, and no shaving either. One of the reasons I was first attracted to my wife was that she always had a general disdain for getting girled-up. Although, funny thing, she does put on make-up, etc. once in a while, and I do like it, but only because it is then a rare and exotic thing, and sort of kinky. As if she were temporarily another person.

I apply my makeup every morning before I go downstairs. Light moisturizing foundation to smooth out my complexion and mascara. And I check it out in daylight with my glasses on. ( So important if your eyesight is getting poor.) I gave up eyeliner and shadow because I thought it looked too extreme as I got older. I want to look the best I can but not look painted.
