Because in some instances,
it ignores Science.
It disregards facts and evidences
and insists on irrational beliefs on faith.
This isn't only dumb, it's harmful.
It's detrimental to our future
since they insist on teaching this rubbish to our children.
And that is not productive.
That is not progressive.
That is not helping us learn and grow
and advance our understanding.
It wants to basically drag us back into the Dark Ages
and keep us there.
And that would be a pretty dumb thing to do..

There's an inverse correlation between belief in religion and IQ. Also, correlation does not imply causation, could be just dumb people drawn towards religion as a crutch.
