Domestics are a good buy used over the imports, but it all depends on your personal preference such as engine, payload, towing ability, passenger space, etc. Most manufacturers are all built on par these days. There is no such thing as "this truck is better than that truck!" it's all a myth. It ultimately comes down to the owner and how they maintain their vehicle. Someone that puts a few extra hundred bucks a year in oil and other fluid changes and tire rotations is the used truck you want to buy. Ask for previous maintenance records before you buy and you'll have a good reliable vehicle for the near part of a decade with other than regular maintenance.

Regular maintenance also includes some wear and tear parts as shocks, tires, hoses, etc. Again, depends on the vehicle and where you live in terms of weather conditions that can have a drastic effect on long term performance and reliability.

ford or chevy hands down. they have the BEST engines and drivetrains in the market and will last forever if well kept. yeah a toyata or nissan is a decent truck but if you've ever had to work on one they are a pain in the A$$. the only thing good about a dodge truck is their cummins diesel and they bought it from ford long ago. i have a 94 f150 with the 4.9 inline 6. its about to roll over 200xxx, has had the same engine and tranny with no rebuilds, and no mechanical break down ever. ford has been the number one truck dealer for 33 years and last year outselling its closest competitor by 97,000 units. you will not be dissapointed

Chevy colorado is a great truck you can get from about $15,000 - 21,000 for 2006 models on up to 2008. Depending on the cab size.

And the nissan frontier is a good truck but a little more.

I personally have a colorado and you can't go wrong with a chevy. I got a '90 silverado with 250,000 miles and she still runs.
