Instruments like this are junk. First of all, zoom eyepieces do not work well in astronomical applications unless they are very expensive. They are not as sharp, and have extremely narrow fields of view at low magnifications. Secondly, a high quality 80mm objective is capable of a maximum magnification of about 160x. An inexpensive objective like the ones in a cheap binocular like this are maybe capable of 80x at most.

The most useful binoculars for astronomy are 10x50s.

Its a spotting binoculars. While a high magnification like this *might* be usable for terrestrial viewing (bird watching, plane spotting, etc) it will be useless for astronomy.

And I would be very skeptical indeed about the quality of the optics - zoom lensing of more than 4:1 or 5:1 is extremely suspect.

Furthermore, ''Besser'' would seem to be the type of name typically used by pirates and scammers - its a knock-off name. The ''quality'' name brand is ''Bresser''. And their binoculars do NOT sell for $99 or so, as I saw on a couple ebay sites for ''Besser'' binoculars. The ebay sites indicate the origin of these ''Besser'' binoculars is China - another hint that this are knock-offs. You can expect poor quality, and extremely exaggerated claims about the abilities of these binos. The scammer has nothing to lose by lying to you - once you send them your money, they will never have to deal with you again.

recognizing scopes particularly are not all that functional for astronomy because of the fact of their small aperture. Aperture is lots extra important than magnification because of the fact the huge-unfold function of a telescope is to deliver mutually gentle. Binoculars on the different hand will nonetheless be functional once you ultimately get a "genuine" telescope. individually i might recommend something like 8 x fifty six or 10 x 50 binoculars. something larger powered will desire a tripod. i might recommend growing to be a member of an astronomy club till now figuring out to purchase a telescope. That way you could leaf via distinctive scopes and %. the brains of participants. fairly many times golf equipment would have scopes they're going to own loan out to participants, there is likewise an rather solid threat you could %. up a used scope at a solid value. I picked up my 10" that way.

An 80 mm Lens can only support about 160X magnifications.

If it does give 480X the image will be a grey blur and no use at all.
