Log cabin crochet edges?

Looking for pictures/tutoroials on how to crochet on the edges of your work. I started a log cabin afghan and am having trouble once you turn your work to crochet up the side. I have read plenty on how to do it, however I would like something visual to guide me. So if you know of any sites or have any pics of your own work please let me know. Thanks

Update:

So lets say I crochet 6 rows, when I turn my work to crochet down the side, I put 3 in the corner and then what?

Some patterns say chain 3 (depending on stitch used)turn clockwise then crochet in each rows side totaling 6 for the 6 rows. Other patterns add additional stitches when crocheting on the sides, so that would be 7 stitches on the end for the 6 rows.

Hope I am not losing anyone.

So are the edge stitches equal to the amount of rows or do you need to add stitches?

And how about the 3 stitches in the corner? Can anyone give me a little bit more detail on how that works and how many more stitches are needed in if you are working with, lets say, 8 rows?Would that b 3 in corner, and 5 more evenly spread out..?

Thanks!!
