Is it a spiritual shock to suddenly find the format of one's Yahoo Answers activity page changed?

I went to my activity page. I looked at a question I'd previously answered. I read some new answers. Then I clicked 'My Activity' again and was completely thrown - the whole layout had changed completely in those few brief moments!!

Given that TIRH (This Is Religion Here), surely we expect our sacred texts to stay the same forever, not suddenly alter in mid-stream?

And do you like the new look?

Update:

@ those who tell me this isn't a spiritual matter - do you not understand irony, or is it just totally ingrained in you to take everything completely literally?

Update 2:

Hey! I just got the old page back! I doubt it's for long, but presumably they've suddenly realised there are lots of glitches still to be sorted.

And what I dislike most of the old/new format is the length of lines - any style guide will tell you it's a mistake to make lines that long because it's hard for the eye to accurately catch the next line.

Holy moley, darling (TIRH)!! I had to click over to My Activity to see what you were talking about, and oh my goodness, it looks bizarre! Very much a spiritual shock, I agree!

I appreciate being able to see more contacts and such, but did they have to make the picture so huge? After all, I already know what my avatar photo looks like...I don't need to have it taking up a third of the page!

It will take some getting used to, I think, darling...and possibly some gin to help me get over the shock.

Yeah, weird things were happening on Sunday - I wondered if Yahoo was about to self-destruct. However, the powers that be (and we're talking about corporal, earthly, human powers) are at liberty to mess around with the format and tinker with things that don't need tinkering with. Irritating, but hardly a spiritual shock!

Whatever it is that's going on in the ether (and the world wide web) cannot be attributed to divine intervention. As for the new look, I've been far too preoccupied with answering questions to notice!

Also, I'm very grateful to all the Yahoo staff members who have worked so hard to stop the inundation of malicious and unwanted emails that we were being bombarded with. Thanks for fixing that very real and present danger.

Yikes! I've just returned to my profile page and it's changed! Is this an American phenomenon, or is it going global? Ah, well, who am I to stand in the way of "progress"?

I know,I was on Yahoo Answers I went away to do some tidying up and when I came back an hour or so later it had changed.

So far I don't like the new look but I doubt that will make much difference!

It's changed back to the former style,I wonder if it's going to stay like this!

    It has changed again!!

  • I'd had my head totally immersed in an answer for someone who appreciates nuance, complexity and good writing. Which was great fun, but then I step back, refresh my 'network activity' page and find that aliens have taken it over. Very disorientating, and not just because it's different.

The changes are especially bad for the starred questions. After the first two (in giant letters), what's visually dominant is the "Starred by _______" line and the Answer question button. It takes effort to refocus on the actual question. I suppose I'll learn in time to focus on the least obvious thing in each listing....

I guess they'll go after the layout of the answer page next. :-(

The new page layout takes far too much space to display exactly the same amount of information.

It's also annoying me that my questions and answers are now where my Contacts Q&A used to appear, and I have to continuously scroll down the page to view this. I'd love the option to swap these two modules around.

Yes, it was a shock. Am I the only one who can't see the photo of Bobby bunny kissing my son's hand as my avatar photo now?

I was also logged in after being on my activity page, and watched it "morph"..and my avatar photo disappear.

    Strange.

I see other's photos here, but not my own.

edit: GRRRR! Several hours now, and my avatar photo has still not returned. I want my avatar photo back! Why did it disappear with the new activity page change?

I just wish they didn't fvck up something else unrelated when they make their needless changes. I now have to double click everything I want to open and I can't get the submit button to work without the preview button.(They were bragging that you only have to hit submit last week and now they've screwed it up).

It's the side effects of incompetence that annoy me.

The new look is fine -- I don't expect YAHOO! software to remain the same and to be enduring --

No it is not a spiritual shock

I like it. It reminds me of the big telephone my granny has so she can see the buttons.

My own questions and answers seem to be private from me, so it's not without glitches still.

Not so much a spiritual shock for me as I worked on the new design.

What we wanted to do is to make the Activity page consistent with the width and styles used elsewhere on Yahoo! Answers. The new design also gives us a structure where we can add more new and exciting features in the future.
