Can I be healthy off of a vegetarian diet, and only including fish?

I've been vegetarian for 4 years and I really don't want to eat chicken or beef etc.. I just don't like it.

But I do like seafood and eat a variety of veggies and spices/herbs...BUT I barely incorporate fish into my diet and I only started adding a little bit fish this year. I was completely lacto-ovo vegetarian for most of this time (3/4 of the time)

I also feel weaker and unhealthy. If I ate more fish for my source of protein (and eggs) would that be good enough? Please someone who is experienced in nutrition answer :)

Also what are the top 5 healthiest fish you would suggest?

Please help me, I want to be healthy....tired of feeling so fatigued and weird.

THANK YOU.

Update:

If you have enough knowledge on social and cultural aspects of food, you'd find out there are different types of vegetarians. Lacto-ovo.

Obviously I recently became a pesci vegetarian after 3 yrs of pure vegetarianism. My fatigue is RECENT so I DO NOT HAVE TO EAT POULTRY.

Thanks to those who've answered correctly

Update 2:

I made it clear I was a pure vegetarian and started including fish, I also made it clear I was lacto-ovo. Maybe you should read my question more clearly.

You can definitely be healthy eating a (good) vegetarian diet plus fish/seafood and/or eggs, and you also won't need to continue to worry about getting "complete" proteins from your plant-based foods.

(You should be able to feel fine though as a vegetarian as long as you're eating the right kinds of things, and eating them in the right amounts and proportions, so if you don't feel better after adding fish for awhile you might think about seeing a doctor since there may be something else going on.)

As for healthiest fish, the ones like salmon, tuna, sardines, etc., have an extra something (Omega 3 oils) that's very good for the circulatory system, etc, but otherwise just about any fish that's fresh (not too old or badly stored, etc.) is very healthy.

Hey, to the meat eater up there.

If you don't agree with vegetarians or vegans then don't bother answering questions about it please :)

If I were you, I would just find other sources of protein. When you go so long without eating something, it can make you feel really sick and sluggish. I mean if you wanna go back to eating fish then go for it, but just know there are other ways to go. I eat about a cans worth of beans every day. Excellent protein and gives you an extra boost to your energy level. On top of it, they last forever in your pantry and you can fix/cook them so many ways and into so many meals.

Also, make sure you are getting enough iron. An iron deficiency can make you feel weird. To solve that, I would suggest eating dark greens like broccoli and spinach.

    I hope this helps!

Please don't say that you are vegetarian if you decide to go back to fish. It confuses people and makes things harder for vegetarians. If a person makes a special "vegetarian" meal of fish only to find out that their vegetarian guest actually eats no meat, both the host and the guest feel badly. Please say "pescetarian," as it is far more respectful to vegetarians and those who love them. It is still awesome and veg folk will salute your savvy.

Anyway, a pescetarian diet is one of the healthiest in the world, so no need to worry about your health. Just avoid fried and salted fish and watch the source and type of fish for mercury and toxins. Easy peasy. Little fish like sardines are great for health. Don't eat fish that are high on the food chain too often.

Have you gotten your blood levels and thyroid checked? Try that... self-diagnosis may not be the best idea for an ongoing problem.

I'm not sure it's appropriate to be asking vegetarians and vegans for fish advice. The below posters are correct, that would be a pescatarian, and I would suggest seeking out resources for seafood eaters. Good luck.

How can you even vaguely claim to be a vegetarian when you are eating fish. They are just as much of a living creature as a steer or chicken. Just because they are swimming in the water instead of walking on land doesn't make them ANY less of an animal! Shame on you!

Now, after 4 years of being a vegetarian and constantly feeling fatugued and weird perhaps it is time for you to put 2 and 2 together and realize that you FELT better when you were eating the beef and chicken. Do you suppose your body is trying to tell you something?

yes of course you can be healthy off of a vegetarian diet and you need not to including fish.

Vegeterian is healthy as long as you make sure you get all the good stuff meat gives you some other way. (like for example protein can also be found in nuts and eggs )

Also, you don't wanna eat too much fish...

Just make sure you take daily vitamins and suplements if you don't think you are getting enough vitamins and stuff from the food you eat.

Just go talk to a nutritionist .

if you eat fish, you are not a vegetarian, stop making a mockery of that religion

Personally, I don't agree with Vegitarians. I LOVE meat. I eat steak, ribs, beef, chicken, wings, fish, etc. You feel tired becuase your body isn't getting all the proper nutrients. Vegetables and fruits are good for you, but you need to include grains and meats. And If you don't like meat, just eat it in small portions. Grin and bare it. Better be to be healthy, then to be tired and weak.
