    1/5 = 0.2 = 2*10^-1

    (1/5)^4 = 0.2^4. = 2^4 * (10^-1)^4 = 16 * 10^-4

now for 10^-4, move the decimal point 4 places to the left of 16.

    (1/5)^4= 0.0016

when using fractions you must distribute the exponent to both the top and the bottom

    (1/5)^4

    (1^4)/(5^4)

    1/625

Then use long division to get 1 divided by 625

    Well, can you multiply .2 * .2 * .2 * .2 without a calculator?

    Because 1/5 = 0.2 and (1/5)^4 = (0.2)^4 = 0.2 * 0.2 * 0.2 * 0.2 = .04 * .04 = .0016
