Opinions on racism? What do you think?
This might not make much since, but I will try my best. How do people find others of a different race, gender, color, religion to be lesser than themselves? People use the bible to explain that whites are superior to blacks, when according to the bible everyone on this earth was made from the same flesh. It just doesn't make sense to me. I don't believe that I am naive, I respect other people's opinions no matter what they are. But recently my good friend and I were having a conversation about 9/11. He explains how he hates Muslims for doing that, and I ask him if he hates all Muslims. He says yes he does, I decide to go deeper and I ask him what he thinks of Latinos. He says that he hates them as well along with blacks. I asked him why he hates all these people and he said, I don't know I just do. The thing that really made me think was when I asked him if he hated Brian, my black buddy which I introduced to him before. He said he likes Brian a lot and thinks he is hilarious and a cool guy. I know this is long as hell, but I really want to know people's opinions on this. I will accept any feedback, I don't care how crude or offensive it is. I want to hear it all.
What is your opinion on racism? Why do you think people believe it? Do you believe people of other races are lesser than you? What do you think was the reasoning behind my friend's responses?
Please do not filter your responses. I want to hear everything you have to say. I would really love a response from someone who truly believes that those of another color are lesser people, I'm not here for an argument. This is pure curiosity.
Its not necessarily a matter of understanding why people do it. But hearing a response from someone who believes it to be true to their heart is something I would love to hear.
Athame I hear what you are saying. But what I want to know, is it the people themselves that see are to blame for these recent events and circumstances, or is it their culture? Do you think color, race, or religion have anything to do with it?

I don't think racism is always about thinking someone is lesser class of person than yourself, thats where Hitlers 'unter mensch' tripe starts coming in.
But what if you are being crowded out of your own home? I live in an area of London that is now 85% Bengali....15 years ago it was about 50%. 'Infidels' are an endangered group around here!
The area of this growth has gotten bigger too, the local population is skyrocketing....where will it stop? These people all want a big family made up mostly of sons, it's a 'curse' to have a girl, it costs money to marry them off, and indeed they are. If anything THEY treat people as something less.
It is no longer safe to go out at night here.
They are costing a fortune we can't afford and still they come and expect us to bow to their every demand, and they do demand.
People are becoming racists because they have been made racists.
Will they only stop coming when they have picked us bare?
You have asked: 'But what I want to know, is it the people themselves that see are to blame for these recent events and circumstances, or is it their culture? Do you think color, race, or religion have anything to do with it?'
They are different, they have huge families, they have different culture, but most of all they keep coming and coming and we are getting very crowded, poverty in the Indian sub continent has a great deal to do with population and they are bring that issue here...the latter point is the most important, if they were Germans or Russians the same reactions would occur.
I wonder what a native American owes everybody else?
Must it all end up like this ?......http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AlVczvB4FQk

I don't care for racists. Their feelings are real to them, but scientifically and genetically it doesn't stand up. People prefer to be with people that look like them, but I think that that is just a knee jerk reaction and not an abhorrence. I try and mix with the widest possible variety of people as I can both personally and professionally. As a prison officer of 19 years I mix with all sorts of people and have worked in both male and female prisons. I've learned never to judge anybody by their appearance. In a prison recreation room, the sweet little old white lady knitting in the corner may well have killed three people, while the loud, aggressive black lady is in for mere shoplifting. You never can tell.

honestly dude, i think the biggest factor in people who think that way is how they were raised. Im not making excuses for them but if you have certain ideas, opinions, and views constantly being put on you, more often then not, those same views will become your own. I used to question people and try to dig deeper into like you described but i found that any effort i put forth into understanding their logic was to no avail simply because there is no logic to their reasoning to speak of. Its nothing but ignorance and its been around forever and doesnt seem to be going away anytime soon. I dont understand it and honestly i never expect to understand it.

Everybody should be treated with the same respect, regardless of their religion/race/beliefs.
I don't really have anything else to say... like Martin Luther King Jr said, "I hope that one day, my kids will live in a nation where they will not be judged by the colour of their skin, but the content of their character."
Well, I suppose you should judge people by their personality; for example, I want to trap Bin Laden in a room and torture him.
Likewise, I would be happy to execute a paedophile.

That's a extra difficult query than it first looks. This nation (US) has had a lovely unhealthy monitor list. The coverage of Manifest Destiny (Native Americans in some way now not human sufficient to have any rights) and later slave possession, are well examples. Ignorance is greatly accountable, however greed performs a aspect on this additionally. Since there was once a advantage to taking a Native American's rights away (and his land rights, water rights, and so forth.), it was once less complicated to mention "They're savages" than it was once to confess "We're grasping SOB's" Slavery was once greatly the identical,.(Although nowadays it is politically right within the South to mention the civil conflict was once approximately State's rights versus Federal rights.) The natives of South America confronted the identical factor whilst the Spanish decimated their international locations. So greed and lack of know-how have been relatively even again then. Now now we have racism from many specific places. Many Native Americans and African Americans make racist statements, as do corporations of caucasions (who look to be sharing one mind as a substitute of every utilizing their possess). So how do you label that? It's now not so much specific from what we see in different international locations, historical recollections of atrocities ago. Hard to get round, nevertheless it have got to be triumph over to do away with racism. The most up-to-date racism is founded in faith. "Paki's, ragheads, and so forth." don't seem to be approximately dermis colour, eye colour, and so forth. it is Muslim vs. Christian. They can not look to overlook the Crusades, but the Crusades have been for "taking again" the "Holy lands." How does this all finish? World assets are shrinking so love it or now not greed will quickly re-input the equation, lack of know-how is likely one of the first gear used to create hatred and racism, historical recollections nonetheless exist in lots of cultures. Thicker dermis is helping one to disregard a few of it, and establishing relationships with others founded on what's ordinary to each even as minimizing what's specific is helping. Get rid of the politically right BS and talk about disorders! Nothing is going away via ignoring it. I have a constant rainbow of peers. I'm as welcome at their residences as they're at mine. Our children play in combination and spend the night time over at every others residences and it is all well. Their regulations are just like my regulations, their youngsters are as precious as mine, now we have so much in ordinary, and final I heard colour wasn't contagious. Attitudes are, and our children are developing up with well ones. It's now not approximately colour, it is approximately how you're dealt with.

Your friend is immature and in need of much more love in his life.
There are billions of Muslims. How is it the actions of so few reflect on all?
Latinos and Blacks? No worries, I'm sure they aren't even thinking about his silly white a55.
I think you need to help him open his heart or find better friends.

I don't think any races are inferior..I just unfortuantely tend to think other races are prettier and more unique than others.
