Aussies - how do I not get eaten by this spider of yours?

The Redback spider has moved into New Zealand, and quite frankly I'm afraid for my life. The point of New Zealand is that we don't have anything poisonous but the Katipo! But now with Whitetails and Redbacks, I am freaking out.

My question is, how do you prevent yourself from being eaten by these things? (I mean bitten of course, but it feels more melodramatic than that.) Whitetails I could deal with, they just make you sick - but Redbacks... *shudder*.

I've lived in Australia all my life and rarely see them, though white tails LOVE BEDS! spray some raid here and there along your walls or in cracks to keep them away. Red backs live in pot plants, under wood tables sort of thing. Won't bother you unless you provoke them really.. I've never been bitten by any although I notice them in summer more often. Just wear gloves when gardening or whatever

It mostly depends on where you're living, I lived in England until I was ten and I have had aracnophobia since I can remember. I was also very scared to even be in the same country as spiders! Even small ones. But, if you live in a house that attracts spiders (with a lot of corners and dusty places) then you'll be more likely to get them. I've lived in Australia for almost six years now and I've never seen a redback or whitetail in my life! All I can suggest is bug spray and spider traps. :)

    Hope this helped! x

Despite how obvious this may sound, just constantly wash things in and around your house, especially if you have any pot plants, tyres, anything with crevices really and make sure you're always wearing gloves and boots.

I honestly have never seen one in my life and I live up in Tropical Queensland.

    Hope I helped :D

Stop being a wuss you. I have never been bitten by one and know no one that has. On the odd chance that you are bitten by one, very few people actually die from them any more. That's ye olden days.

    Man it up :o
