What's the relationship between spirituality and due process?

Particularly in relation to passing the death sentence on people convicted primarily on the strength of their own confession, and particularly in relation to the case of Sakineh Ashtiani in Iran.

Deuteronomy says: 'On the testimony of two or three witnesses a man shall be put to death, but no-one shall be put to death on the testimony of only one witness.'

Spirituality does not have much influence on the defined law of any country. The country in question has not extended freedom to women at par with men. Decisions are taken by male chauvinistic rulers. Interpretation of law is also mostly biased against women. In the case of adultery, the male partner is not considered for punishment at par with female, though both are equally involved. Death sentence of any form is cruelty despite it is law. Any individual having confessed for a crime must be spared for the first instance for capital punishment. That's spirituality.

The Iranian government isn't well known for it's respect of due process, or anything else that conflicts with it's ideological beliefs.

That case has no connection with spirituality at all.
