Saab 9-5 or Mercedes C180?
Hello everyone. A 1.9 Saab 9-5 with 200,000 km on the clock, year 1998 or a 1.8 Mercedes C180 with 183,000 km, year 1996. Both are priced the same. Which one should I go for? I would be using it for short trips of between 1 and 3 km, maybe 40 km in total per week. Thanks.

They both sound good, but the Mercedes is a much better quality vehicle.

Buy the Saab. I have a '97 900 and it is great. Trust me the 9-5 will be safer, more practical and it is more unique as well as having a turbo.

I don't know what parts prices are like in Europe but in North America, SAAB parts are hideously expensive. Mercedes parts are a bargain in comparison.
Based on that alone, I'd go for the Benz out of the 2.

Apparently Evelyn is not aware of the Saab's engine design fault that resulted in a legal class action in USA against saab by hundreds of saab owners with seized engines! Go with the merc.

Dont Buy either. Find a Merc C class with the 220 Diesel. Its faster and a lot more Economical.

Did you ask this already, I'm sure I answered this exact question a couple of days ago.
My answer hasn't changed, buy the Saab, don't touch a the Merc.

I just read the first part of the question: Mercedes.
Source(s): If you own a Saab, you must work for them. They are awful cars to drive and repair, and no power.
