Macca, although the picture makes it difficult to see details, from the two-point floating bridge, 22-frets, two string trees, and general configuration of the headstock graphics, it does appear to be a Fender American Stratocaster. In 1993, they did not have quite so many Special Editions or Artist variations as they do currently; however, this particular guitar does have the Red Moto pickguard, which could possibly make it a unique model if installed by the factory. A more likely scenario is that this is a basic Fender Stratocaster, with the pickguard changed out by a previous owner. Best regards, Dana

P.S. Just noticed a 1994 Fender American Standard Stratocaster for sale on eBay at http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item... that is pretty much the identical guitar; the only exception is the year, and the fact that it is a 40th Anniversary model. I could not see an anniversary badge on the headstock of your referenced picture, so I still think the pickguard was likely changed to match the appearance of the 1994 model.

Without cross referencing the serial number it appears to be a standard "hard-tail" (no tremelo) Strat. The pickups, and bridge don't look to be anything out of the ordinary. Get the serial number and then look it up on the web it should tell you if it is a Custom shop or other non standard Strat.

If i replaced into planning on upgrading the Strat's sound for blues or rock, i might want to surely pass with the Texas style pickups. they grant a versatile array of tones for a extremely small quantity of money, a sturdy blend of value and interesting. savour!!
