Law enforcement officers in the USA, will you obey these orders?
First, a thanks to all law enforcement officers for the risks you take daily to protect me and my family. None of you are fairly compensated.
The following list comes from oathkeepers.org, and they are listed under the heading "Orders we will not obey". What are your thoughts? Would you obey them? What would happen if you refused?
1. We will NOT obey orders to disarm the American people.
2. We will NOT obey orders to conduct warrantless searches of the American people
3. We will NOT obey orders to detain American citizens as “unlawful enemy combatants” or to subject them to military tribunal.
4. We will NOT obey orders to impose martial law or a “state of emergency” on a state.
5. We will NOT obey orders to invade and subjugate any state that asserts its sovereignty.
6. We will NOT obey any order to blockade American cities, thus turning them into giant concentration camps.
7. We will NOT obey any order to force American citizens into any form of detention camps under any pretext.
8. We will NOT obey orders to assist or support the use of any foreign troops on U.S. soil against the American people to “keep the peace” or to “maintain control."
9. We will NOT obey any orders to confiscate the property of the American people, including food and other essential supplies.
10.We will NOT obey any orders which infringe on the right of the people to free speech, to peaceably assemble, and to petition their government for a redress of grievances.
I am interested in how the police view the oathkeepers, so thanks for the additional insight.
I had never considered the possibility that they were an anti-American group. I'll have to reread what they promote and see if that fits.
I know that many are required to take an oath to defend the Constitution, but I have never heard of anyone being required to read it. Are police encouraged to read it?
@impaler, I thank you for your service to your country. I have children in the military, one served in Iraq. Unfortunately, not everyone feels as you do. I read in the news a several years ago about a woman in Cheektowaga, NY. I don't recall all the details, but I think she was going through a divorce and her ex was violent so she bought a gun for protection. The police came to her home and asked if she had any weapons and took her gun. I am sure that they wanted to prevent violence, but they overstepped their bounds and she ended up dead.

1. Not even if they are criminals?
2. These is justified. Police need to adhere to rules.
3. Depends on the actions of the individuals.
4. State of emergencies are typically called to support state's, that is the state doesn't have the resources to deal with a situation, such as Hurricane Katrina. It is not about taking over the politics of the state but assisting the people/state. I don't agree with military regimes taking over the states though.
5. I agree.
6. Depends, if the city has a virus that if spread would cause the death of millions more then I would support the blockade. It is a form of quarantine (at the most extreme case).
7. Don't see how or why detention camps would be established (other than for mass criminals or prisoners of war).
8. Would only see this situation arising if America lost control of their army, or a civil war broke out and an international peace keeping mission was orgainsed. Which in those cases I would support.
9. Guessing they mean "the property of an American person", because how they stated it would imply any government property. Again this would depend on the situation. Sometimes criminals have their assets confiscated for victims of crime.
10. Who draws the line between the security of people / property and the freedom of speech?

The only thing worse than Islamic extremists, and left wing, commie revolutionaries is right wing extremist who write this sort of crap. I fought for my country in a far off foreign land, and I protect it's citizens every day. I don't need extremists from either left or right wings to dictate to me what my duty to obey (or not obey) orders is. I have laid my life in the line for our Constitution. I understand and respect ar more than any of these "conspiracy theorists" do.
The government of this country may be a little screwed up right now. But it in NOT the enemy of the people. If you don't like the people in office, vote them out. Don't make believe that they are a totalitarian threat. I have fought the armies of a totalitarian government, and I don't need these assholes to explain to me what a dictatorship looks like.

Please this "promise keepers" BS is getting real old.
Most cops are aware where this BS comes from.
domestic terrorist organizations just love to wrap themselves in self righteous stuff like this to mislead the small minded.

You must mean: Will you ever obey these orders.
